About this listen

Good morning. Texas. I'm Aaron Jolly. Seventy degrees and drizzling right now. But don't let that fool you. South Texas is about to crank the heat to 91 degrees today. That's 45 degrees above normal for early March. Your thermometer is confused. And honestly, so is everyone else. In the next 24 hours. Down in South Texas, sunshine drives you to 91 degrees. Southeast winds rip at 17 to 24 miles an hour, gusting past 30. The Gulf Coast parks at 83 under partly sunny skies. Central Texas hits 86 with a slight chance of showers before 3 P.M. North Texas stays cooler at 79, but scattered showers and thunderstorms roll through all day. If you're in the northern Panhandle this morning, dense fog has visibility down to a quarter mile or less until 11 A.M. Take it slow. Tonight, lows settle in the mid to upper 60s statewide. The full moon rises tonight, though clouds may steal the show. Tomorrow the pattern shifts. Showers and thunderstorms become likely across North Texas by afternoon. Central Texas sees storms developing too. The weekend turns wet and potentially stormy. Saturday brings a 70 to 90 percent chance of rain statewide. Some storms could turn severe, especially in Central and North Texas. Large hail and damaging winds are possible. We're gaining nearly two minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise at 6:54 A.M., sunset at 6:33 P.M. One more thing. Tornado season officially begins in just 10 days. This weekend's storm pattern is a reminder that severe weather season is knocking on the door. If you find this helpful, a quick rating goes a long way.
