She just keeps saying 'it was looking up at me.' Luna tries to find answers in the county courthouse, in a faded WPA survey from 1937 that marks the well as 'sealed, no depth recorded.' The story ends with Luna standing at the well in the dark, the bucket rope creaking, and the sound of something breathing below. No resolution.
