The latest Ovies & Giglio kicks off with Super Bowl storylines running straight through Charlotte, thanks to the matchup between New England and Seattle. The game heads back to San Francisco — the site of the Panthers’ last Super Bowl appearance — and there’s a full-circle moment tied to it. Drake Maye, a Charlotte kid who grew up rooting for Cam Newton, was there for that Panthers loss… and now he’s playing on the sport’s biggest stage himself. An increasingly awkward couple of weeks ahead for Bill Belichick.

After the west coast flop had many writing off the Heels, a road win like that could be an inflection point for Hubert Davis and the season’s direction.
