About this listen
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen McManus.
Ellery's never been to Echo Ridge, but she's heard all about it. It's where her aunt went missing at age 16, never to return. Where a homecoming queen's murder five years ago made national news. And where Ellery now has to live with a grandmother she barely knows, after her failed-actress mother lands in rehab. No one knows what happened to either girl, and Ellery's family is still haunted by their loss.
Malcolm grew up in the shadow of the homecoming queen's death. His older brother was the prime suspect and left Echo Ridge in disgrace. His mother's remarriage vaulted her and Malcolm into Echo Ridge's upper crust, but their new status grows shaky when mysterious threats around town hint that a killer plans to strike again. No one has forgotten Malcolm's brother - and nobody trusts him when he suddenly returns to town.
Ellery and Malcolm both know it's hard to let go when you don't have closure. Then another girl disappears, and Ellery and Malcolm were the last people to see her alive. As they race to unravel what happened, they realize every secret has layers in Echo Ridge. The truth might be closer to home than either of them wants to believe.
And somebody would kill to keep it hidden.

My second reason was the lack of twists throughout it. I'd listen to The Cousins and I loved it, but in this book the excitement only came towards the end.
If anyone is interested in this book then I think you should listen to it. I suppose my expectations were just high because of my love for her other works.
Not as gripping as the Author's other books

Absolutely loved Ellery’s voice actress made everything feel really real and her interpretations of other characters’ voices felt different for each. However at first, I must admit, Malcolm’s voice actor did irritate me a little. Always seeming slightly confused and hesitant at the end of every sentence. But thankfully this eased or I looked by it, pretty swiftly into the book.
The story though was truly amazing. Originally, when the book started and we were being told about the different disappearances, it was pretty difficult to picture who is who. It might’ve just been me, however I did have to pause every now and again to just rejig my memory to which disappearance/murder had taken place when.
On a high note though the ending was pretty spectacular in my opinion. Not the major plot twist (although completely unexpected) but that last chapter, which was a lot to take away from the book, keeping me on an odd high. I won’t say (of course) but that is a huge reason to keep going till the end as you won’t be disappointed.
Overall I couldn’t hype this book enough and hope anyone who decides to give it a read is as equally pleased as I am
Just wow
