Wow

“Life is a dream, death an awakening,”

Dark. Romantic. Dangerous.

One of my favorite fantasy series I have read but never listened ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ star
Evan is Soldier of Death and Gemma human girl.
Evan is set to take Gemma's life, but when he meets a girl everything changes.
All these narrators did so good job, yes it took time to listen to it but it was worth it.

Thank You !

Touched the complete series

I was riveted to this book from the first few pages. I couldn’t wait to get home from work to start listening to it again. I was so happy in the first book and so sad in the second. I don’t want to ruin this series for the people who haven’t read or listened to it on audiobook yet by telling you what is going on. What i will say is that if you love to read or listen to love story’s then this is the series for you. I promise you will love this series as much as i did.

Wtf?

I’m the kind of person who doesn’t like to leave a book unfinished. But this was to much for me, about four chapters was all I could handle. Might be the worst book I’ve ever experienced.
I’m not a fan of the instant obsession (refuse to call it love) but usually it’s not quite as unbearable as this.
I don’t know if it’s because I’ve experienced the weird obsessions of an abusive relationship, but this just creeped me out and made me cringe every other second.

original!

this is a fun concept for a book and one I've never read before. the writing got better as the story grew, but some phrases and words were over used. narrators were good. I'll wait a while and listen to this I've again.. definitely worth a credit!

Narrated by..

I'm sorry, but the first book (which is as far as I have gone to date) has been ruined by the lady narrating it. It's awful. Every sentence sounds like a build up or question... or something. It's horrible.

This drones on, and on, and on,....

I kept waiting for something to happen in this book. It never did. I couldn't even finish part 1.

horrible like the endless pain of desperate arrrrr

every sentence there is at least 1 if not several similes. it's impossible. plus so sickly. after just 4 chapters I checked other reviews to see if it got better, saw that it didn't and stopped. could just be down to translation.

Wild Insta-love!

No Seriously, right from the start of the book seventeen-year-old Gemma becomes Insta-bonded to Evan, despite having a friend that she's known for ever. And this isn't your normal love a first sight either. We're treated to her describing Evan as "Wild Thing" by chapter three or 4. She's so giddily head over heels in love this this "guy" that when she finds out that he's fully intending to kill her she shrugs and so "oh well I still love him!" While not her exact words that's pretty much while she means.

The entire overwrought descriptions of emotions, every couple of sentences, may or may not be due to the translation. Still it's pretty bad even by Insta-love standards. As an example early on in the book, Gemma realizes she's been a complete jerk to her best friend Peter who's been there for the long haul. So in this scene she attempts to tease him and maybe show him that she'd like to talk about whatever he'd wanted to talk about when we first met him. Before anything can go very far however Evan appears and Gemma turns to a pile of warm blushing pile of goo just because "Wild Thing" is staring at her. In fact she's so worked up that she feels like shouting out her devotion to "Wild Thing" to the entire auditorium. She's also upset that Peter is showing some jealousy about the "new kid" having eyes for the girl he fancies.

I skipped ahead just to see if such angst had mellowed and was disheartened to to see that it had not. I definitely won't be continuing this book.

sample vs realty

getting through the first book was a struggle. listening to the sample I expected mid 20s as character age range rather than the main characters being young adults.

Annoying Voiceover, Badly Written Book

This book strives to be the height of teen fantasy a la the fandom generated by the Twilight series and yet... with clumsy "heroine" in tow (check), strange uncontrollable attraction (check), and clunky mythos reimagined (check) this book fails to create a believable love interest/story around which it is centered. Too many adjectives like "lugubrious" used in order to show and not tell. Poorly written.

Also, could the glottal-stopped Valley Girl they got to do the "Gemma" parts be ANY MORE GRATING to listen to? I tried with this series - I really did. I listened to all of Book 1 just hoping it would rise. It never did.

I don't know HOW this got such good reviews.

Bored.

The narrator in the first book has terrible inflection, and starting in book 2, I am soooo bored. Nothing is happening.
