Story
As the head of his family, Robert Beckford, the Earl of Masten, was accustomed to dealing with various problems his siblings had caused of one sort or another. However, he wasn't prepared when his cad of brother ruined and then abandoned a young lady. To right the wrong, Robert married the girl himself; but his chivalry only went so far. He didn't want a wife, and most certainly not a scandalous one. So, after repeating his vows, he sent her packing, off to a secluded estate and expected her to stay put.

Joan Bennett is a breath away from being a spinster. She’s had four seasons without a suitor. After reading a shockingly sensuous book, Fifty Ways to Sin, Joan decides perhaps it’s time to stop being proper and start being sinful, while she’s still young enough to enjoy it. And what better partner than her brother’s drinking mate, Viscount Burke? He seems the type to know how to give a lady a lascivious adventure.

Summary
Olivia Blakesley, self-proclaimed spinster extraordinaire, is quite happy with her life. She has her studies and her duties, what need does she have of a husband? With five sisters married she knows the reality does not live up to the promise, and does not need to personally experiment with the state to know she would be ill-suited to it. However, she finds herself envious of at least one aspect of marriage. But to experience the physical side of marriage, one doesn't need a husband, all one needs is the right man....
Nathaniel Jenkins knows his duty. Marry a young girl from a respectable family and father an heir, no matter how cold the endless parade of suitable girls leaves him. But a shocking proposal from a scholarly spinster leaves him wondering if unsuitable is just what he's looking for. Can he convince his spinster that marriage is the greatest experiment of all?

wonderfully simple!!!
It's a very different storyline then a lot of the
HEA Historical Romance novels out there. Yet although it's a simple, errrr..... not so simple?, dilemma for the Heroine that drives this book it easily keeps you entertained. Its funny and sexy, just a little sad and very romantically happy.... yes, I enjoyed it!
NARRATOR : She did a wonderful job! I knew every character, every mood.... and not once did I 'hear' the narrator. Just as it should be!!! There were no distractions that sometimes exist like mispronounced words, bad timing, fluctuating speed or volume, and none of the mouthy sounds that ruin a good book. All in all I enjoyed this book and Maureen Cavanaugh greatly contributed to that.
CREDITWORTHY? : I would give it a definite YES but for the fact that it costs less than a credit does. For me it was definitely dollarworthy!
HEAT FACTOR: Steammmmy!!!!

Where do I begin?
Unbelievably negative, joyless woman who is stubborn beyond belief - lovely patient man who takes all on - gives new meaning to tenacity and is the new Job. Add this to an incredibly stilted narration and it makes the slog to the finish a chore.

Laugh out loud scenes
I almost missed this gem because of the negative remarks, but I'm glad I gave it a "try". I have never written a review on a book, that I can recall, but this was definitely a five star, and if you enjoy wit, it will be worth the read. I will pick up Volume 2 in the series, hoping for another enjoyable time with the Reluctant Brides. Wow!
Spoiler....If you love a lot of intimate love scenes, this might not be the book for you. If you want a delightful, funny story, please pick it up.

What a fun story.
I have both an audio and e-book of this story. It is a fun story. It does not take long to listen to or read. I love the characters. Nathaniel is so tired of the ladies of the town and his mother so wants him to marry. Then he meets the spinster Olivia Blakesley and things really change for him. Then what she wants from him was a grand bit of writing. I loved how they would go around and around. Olivia is the hard head one in this story. Yet stubborn she maybe it is hard not to see that Nathaniel is just the one she needs the question is will Olivia realize it before it is too late. What a great book to have. I loved Ms. Cavanaugh narration a must get book!

Bob @ Platypire Reviews
This. Was. Fun! I've always read books where the 'gentleman' is out looking for a good time, while the women of the times were always trying to snag themselves a husband. But Olivia's experiment was a great read....er....listen haha. I didn't read the synopsis, as I was in the middle of things when I came across this audio book. It was a free day, I liked the cover and the title, and decided to go for it. SO glad I did! However, I had to kick the kids out of the room a few times, so, be on the lookout for that! Those scenes were enough to let you know what exactly was going on, but tastefully done, and not enough to curl your toenails. I loved it. The characters are well defined, and the story flowed wonderfully. Story gets 5 Platypires from me.
The narrator! She was brilliant! She didn't change her voice to a great degree, but you could differentiate the separate characters quite easily. She spoke clearly, with perfect emotion and emphasis where it needed, and I am planning to look for more books narrated by her. Narration also gets 5 Platypires.
So, overall, Bob says: 5 Platypires and 2016 favorite of mine!

It's a cute story
Olivia is the last daughter in her family to get married, but she doesn't want. She is practically a spinster by societies standards. Nathaniel is being pressured by his mother to get married, but he can't stand the young women who only care about fashion and parties. Olivia and Nathaniel seem to be a perfect match. They have similar interests and are stubborn. I like that they don't give in to the pressure of society.
