About this listen

Finished listening to all of Bridgerton? Discover your next favourite regency romance novelist, Beth Andrews.

While her older sister is being presented to London Society for the season, Lydia Bramwell is sent to her Aunt Camilla in the Sussex countryside. High-spirited Lydia expects a very dull visit, but her sojourn to the village of Diddlington is not as idyllic as she anticipates . . .

A charred and bludgeoned corpse is found in the woods, and suspicion falls on Lydia's aunt's suitor, an intriguing Frenchman. Convinced of his innocence, Lydia enlists the help of her new friend, John Savidge, to catch the real killer. But before their dangerous adventure ends there will be more than one unexpected discovery.

Fans of Julia Quinn, Wendy Soliman, Mary Balogh, Jenny Hambly, Lisa Kleypas, Jean Rowden's historical mysteries or Jane Austen will love this romantic regency murder mystery.

Funny, witty, thank you for performance. I am glad to recommend this audio book even it is not very ordinary.

Charming

This does not follow the usual kind of pattern for a Regency romance. For example, there are a couple of rather horrid murders, and the romantic leads are not astoundingly gorgeous in appearance. But I enjoyed it - I found it well written, entertaining, frequently amusing and well narrated. A good short, light read.

Very amusing despite the murders!

Didn't want it to finish. Great characters, great story line. It was more detective than romance. Would have wished for a bit more romance. Funny though despite the murders

Loved it

The characters are wonderful. Lydia is something of a Charlotte Heywood, a few years younger. John is a delight- finally a hero you can love as much as our heroine does- maybe a bit more.

The plot is good and I feel some characters are going to be great friends of mine throughout the series. Mrs Wardle penwotsit is great!

Brilliant! Funny, whimsical, Austenian.

One of these books which you can relax with. Great characters, funny story with great societal observations.

Brilliantly funny.
