About this listen

The first in a new range of dramatized audiobooks of eldritch adventure from the wildly popular Arkham Horror; an international thief of esoteric artifacts stumbles onto a nightmarish cult in 1920s New England.

Countess Alessandra Zorzi, international adventurer and thief, arrives in Arkham pursuing an ancient body freshly exhumed from a mound in Oklahoma, of curious provenance and peculiar characteristics. But before she can steal it, another party beats her to it. During the resulting gunfight at the Miskatonic Museum, the countess makes eye contact with the petrified corpse and begins an adventure of discovery outside her wildest experiences. Now, caught between her mysterious client, the police, and a society of necrophagic connoisseurs, she finds herself on the trail of a resurrected mummy as well as the star-born terror gestating within it.

Performed by Ken Jackson, Valentin Vinci, Kimberly Gilbert, Michael Glenn, Adrian Garcia, Lawrence Redmond, Chris Genebach, Chris Davenport, Earl Fisher, Andy Brownstein, Evan Casey, Christopher Walker, Andy Clemence, Terence Aselford, Jon Vertullo, Michael John Casey, Danny Gavigan, Tanja Milojevic, Richard Rohan, Nanette Savard, Bradley Foster Smith, Scott McCormick, Nick DePinto, Matthew Schleigh.

A fun romp around Arkham featuring several of the characters I know from the living card game. Is it the highest tier narrative ever written? Maybe not - but it is a lot of fun and I enjoy the dramatisation.

Fun and pulpy Arkham Horror story

I thought it was a good story, I enjoyed the full cast of voice characters which all helped to make it a good listen.

What an exciting first story . So we are introduced to the Countess ; an expert thief . Requested to steal an artifact from a Mummy found in Mexico . So unique , yet there is unease in her , she must not under any circumstances touch the mask . Pepper agrees to drive her , she meets Professors who are part of an underground Lodge . I won’t tell you what they do because it will spoil the story . Beautifully acted by all characters , I couldn’t choose a favourite , but they bring the characters to life and the story . Can’t wait for No . 2
Thank you

Having never listened to an Arkham Horror before, this one jumped out to me, so gave it a bash, and I have no regrets!

The character details were enough to help you connect/understand/loath without droning on and being boring. I loved the Countess and Pepper. The cast were great too, even the slightest inflection was heard and helped drive the story along.

My only real critique was the story. A little more about the "situation" at the end, even a hint, would have given the story a bit more depth, rather then revealing all at the end.

First time listener, and what an entrance!

Excellent Lovecraft pulp novel done with full cast audio. Well produced, smart, eerie and good creepy fun.

Fun Lovecraft stuff

Absolutely have found my new favourite genre :)

If you love a good sound effect, horror, lovecraftian take.
Definitely go for this series :)

Gripped!!!

Started and ended well but the middle was confused. The story was basic and formulaic but fine for free.

I enjoy the Arkham Horror game and all the callbacks to the various characters in it were great however the narration was not great. There were many times where the narrator would needlessly add parts when two characters were talking which dragged you out of the story. For example to insert character a turns. Turns towards who? Toward character b, away from character b? What does that add to the story.
It felt like it could have done with another edit to eliminate some of the needless points and allow the characters to engage in meaningful, uninterrupted dialogue unless something important needed to be addressed.
