Summary
Mummies, grave-robbing ghouls, hopping vampires, and evil monks beset a young archaeologist in this fast-paced Indiana Jones-style adventure....
Saqqara, Egypt, 1888, and in the booby-trapped tomb of an ancient sorcerer, Rom, a young Egyptologist, makes the discovery of a lifetime: five coffins and an eerie, oversize sarcophagus. But the expedition seems cursed, for after unearthing the mummies, all but Rom die horribly. He faithfully returns to America with his disturbing cargo, continuing by train to Los Angeles, home of his reclusive sponsor. When the train is hijacked in the Arizona desert by murderous banditos, who steal the mummies and flee over the border, Rom - with his benefactor’s rebellious daughter, an orphaned Chinese busboy, and a cold-blooded gunslinger - must ride into Mexico to bring the malevolent mummies back. If only mummies were their biggest problem....

Ugh. Dreadful, just dreadful.
Between a story that can't keep my attention, characters I don't like and a narrator who mispronounces WAY too many words I cannot recommend this audio book.

Fantastic Build-Up, Sub-Par Payoff
It’s rare that I write a review for titles, the star ratings do a decent enough job communicating quality and the samples have a good feel for the overall performance. That being said: this book is a lot of incredibly interesting set up for very disappointing finish. It’s billed as a horror western but it’s hardly scarier than the Haunted Mansion. There’s lots of viscera and creepy imagery, but nothing outright terrifying.
Nick Landrun is the saving grace here, though, his narration is impeccable and he really tries his best to bring you into the scene but with the quality of the storytelling, he’s making a house of cards.

Enjoyable
Love the story line and the characters. My only complaint is that there could be a bit more detail and development... people, places and things tend to come from no where without explanation.

For anyone that loves a rollicking adventure an absolute must have. So happy to see SA Sidor join the audible ranks.

not for me
The horrors in the Tomb did not bother me. Horrors in tombs is expected. But the indiscriminate murders in chapter 8 was too disgusting. Ok if the author wants to take me back into the fantasy past, but don't expect me to pretend I don't care about humans.
