As a brand-new blood slave, Annika must survive her dangerous new circumstances - or face death from the wolves prowling the Vale's enchanted walls. But sparks fly when she meets the vampire prince Jacen, and while she hates the thought of falling for the enemy, her connection with the mysterious prince could be the key to her freedom.

Because if she can convince him to turn her into a vampire, she'll finally have the strength she needs to escape the Vale.

Not my cup of tea

Im sure there are plenty of people out there that will love this but i found it a little corny/cheesy. I struggled to like any of the characters.

Great story,

I really enjoyed the 5 book set!
I liked the the different caricatures, the books were easy to get into right away, I loved the idea of all the different kingdoms and the hierarchy and pomp and ceremony made me giggles times!
I can’t wait for another story from the Dark World Series!

When 2 who are wronged set out to make a right...

The world of the vale where humans are the have nots and are subject to the vampires.. required to give blood in exchange for be allowed to live there... not like they have an option to leave.

Annika is a human kidnapped to the vale and not ok with the status quo.

Enter the powerful Vampire prince, angry at being turned against his will who just wants his life back and to destroy the queen who took it.

When these two meet.. nothing will stand in their way.. Except for themselves, they both must overcome so they can finally fight for their cause.

Great listen to get lost in the supernatural

This series was one of the best audible that I’ve listened to. The narrator did a fantastic job of all of the characters. Each one had their own voice and personality so it was easy to just turn your mind off and just go with it. The author kept the storyline interesting and moving so it never fell flat or dwelled too long during the series. This is all YA so no descriptive love scenes or cussing. It’s a nice change of pace from what I usually listen to. Highly recommend to listen. You will not be disappointed.

Much better than her other works

This story is written so much better than some of her other works. Better story line and is pretty decent overall. The beginning books are very much like The Selection but with vampires, but still a good listen.

Hate the ending

The ending left to many questions. I can only hope it has a spin off.

An okay read.

Overall, I liked the story a lot. However, I had a hard time relating to the characters until nearing the end of the 5th book. I also felt most of the books could've been combined; they were very anticlimatic at the ends. The 4th book was kind of a joke, and definitely should've either been combined with the third of fifth books in the series. The narrator did very well with the different voices, I didn't have any issue deciphering who was who, so I never got lost or had to repeate a section, she also did well with rhythm and timing. All in all, I would recommend the series.

More than expected

This series was a mix of adventure, mystery and romance. The performance from the reader was fantastic. I could not put it away. I would highly recommended it.

good voices for the different characters

I didnt like how it went from different characters to different ones and told the story from their POV it gets a little confusing sometimes. but the book is good and when you pay attention it's simple to follow along. I like that every character has their own voice it helps telling the story apart also.

Disappointed

There is YA and then there is just poor writing. Blood oath every other chapter. Good grief.
