Poor decisions as a main plot...
Goodness, poor decisions and bad management seem to be central to the plot of this novel! I was really set on enjoying the full series, but I'm afraid I will be dropping out after this one. I'm sure events will get much more dramatic and dire, which is not something I look for in my listens. A very frustrating novel, just not to my taste. Don't judge all of Shannon's novels by this one though, I cannot recommend The Priory of the Orange Tree enough!!

I love this series
I am amazed by the inventiveness of the author. Although the genre is not my normal choice, I enjoy the twists and turns of the story line plus the use of place including historic London. Add in language, dialect and the projection of current culture into the near future there is interest alongside the narrative. Keep them coming.

Narrator changed?
I've now listened to all 3 books in the bone season series. This book sounds like it's being read by a different narrator- most annoying! It's completely ruined my enjoyment of the story.

A really good solid read.
A really good read. Took a little while to get back into the story as I read the earlier books in the series a while ago - but glad I persevere. Strong characters; original story line; some humour and unexpected twists. Great names! A little bit of romance but this doesn't dominate the story line or reduce it to mush. Looking forward to more...

dreadful narration...
I've read this book and thoroughly enjoyed it despite being the weaker of the three but struggled to listen and engage for first half due to narrator. I put off listening to this series on audible due to sample listen of pale dreamer and thought the narrators song song irish voice with an American twang was hideous so was pleasantly surprised when books 1 and 2 were wonderfully narrated. Took narrator until half way through part 2 to find Paiges voice but everyone else reduced to generic English accent and hard to distinguish. Wardens voice butchered
Advise reading this book or at least leave a large gap between listening to books 2 and 3...yikes

Not as good as previous books
What did you like best about The Song Rising? What did you like least?
Pacey with a couple of twists but nowhere near as compelling as the Bone Season. Feels less polished, a bridging book between Paige's life in Seven dials and the future where she is in a French resistance movement. A bit 'been there seen that', like a boring WW2 movie on Sunday afternoon. Character less deep and therefore I cared less about them.

Well worth the wait!
Having waited for what seemed like ages for this book, I was a little apprehensive that it would not live up to the high level of quality set by the previous novels in the series..but it did!
Very fast-paced, this instalment explored a much bigger backdrop of life under Scion as well as the struggles of Paige, Warden and their allies against Scion's increasing clampdown on the "Unnaturals".
The build-up of detail in the first half was gritty and fascinating, completely right for the explosion of action, (and some really startling twists!), in the second..
Overall, it was a really satisfying book, well read by Ms Collins, which will make the wait for the next in the series feel even more long!
Thoroughly recommended!

Another excellent instalment in Bone Season series
Loved this third book, the pace was quicker than the others and it was so tense. I loved the narration again.

Disappointing
Dragged and was disappointing compared to the other books. Story could have been more exciting and could have elaborated on the move story more. Didn't really take me anywhere emotionally.
