Story
Here we stand, and our eyes look forward sometimes miles ahead. Man has been doing that since he began to think. He is always looking forward, looking ahead. He wants to know where he goes, even after the dissolution of his body. Various theories have been propounded, system after system has been brought forward to suggest explanations. Some have been rejected, while others have been accepted, and thus, it will go on, so long as man is here, so long as man thinks. There is some truth in each of these systems.

Bhakti yoga is a real, genuine search after the Lord, a search beginning, continuing, and ending in love. Karma yoga, also called karma-marga, is one of the several spiritual paths in Hinduism, one based on the "yoga of action". To a karma yogi, right work done well is a form of prayer. Of the paths to spiritual liberation in Hinduism, karma yoga is the path of unselfish action. It teaches that a spiritual seeker should act according to dharma, without being attached to the fruits or personal consequences.

What is cosmic consciousness? The present volume is an attempt to answer this question; but notwithstanding it seems well to make a short prefatory statement in as plain language as possible so as to open the door, as it were, for the more elaborate exposition to be attempted in the body of the work. Cosmic consciousness, then, is a higher form of consciousness than that possessed by the ordinary man.

The great central fact of the universe is that Spirit of Infinite Life and Power that is behind all, that animates all, that manifests itself in and through all; that self-existent principle of life from which all has come, and not only from which all has come, but from which all is continually coming. If there is an individual life, there must of necessity be an infinite source of life from which it comes. If there is a quality or a force of love, there must of necessity be an infinite source of love whence it comes.

We greet our old students who have returned to us for the advanced course. We feel that, hereafter, it will not be necessary to repeat the elementary explanations which formed such an important part of the former class work, and we may be able to go right to the heart of the subject, feeling assured that each student is prepared to receive the same. No occult teaching is ever wasted - all bears fruit in its own good time.

In this book of key spiritual teachings from unpublished discourses, the great Advaita Master, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, teaches us that we are not limited to the body. Because of our mistaken body identity, we feel separate from what we truly are. Our identification with the body and mind subjects us to endless cycles of pleasure and pain, desire and fear, which cause us to search beyond ourselves for that which we believe we lack.

The San Francisco Chronicle declared, "Yogananda presents a convincing case for yoga, and those who 'came to scoff' may remain 'to pray." Today it is still one of the most widely read and respected books ever published on the wisdom of the East.

Story
Upanishads are mankind's oldest works of philosophy, predating the earliest Greek philosophy. They are the concluding part of the Vedas, the ancient Indian sacred literature, and mark the culmination of a tradition of speculative thought first expressed in the Rig-Veda more than 4,000 years ago. Remarkable for their meditative depth, spirit of doubt and intellectual honesty, the Upanishads are concerned with the knowledge of the Brahman, the Ultimate Reality, and man's relationship with it.

Story
In August 1977, Gopi Krishna gave a series of eight discourses to a group of spiritual seekers from Canada at his Central Institute for Kundalini Research near Srinagar, Kashmir, India. In this transcript of these talks, he discusses in detail the characteristics of an enlightened person and various methods to achieve the state of "Cosmic Consciousness". He also spoke on other related topics, such as karma, reincarnation, and meditation. Much of this invaluable material is being presented for the first time and does not appear in any of his other books.
Summary
What Hinduism needed, amidst the general disintegration of the modern era, was a rock where she could lie at anchor, an authoritative utterance in which she might recognize her self. And this was given to her, in these words and writings of the Swami Vivekananda.
What Hinduism had needed, was the organizing and consolidating of its own idea. What the world had needed was a faith that had no fear of truth. Both these are found here. Nor could any greater proof be given of the eternal vigour of the Sanâtana Dharma, of the fact that India is as great in the present as ever in the past, than this rise of the individual who, at the critical moment, gathers up and voices the communal consciousness. This is Volume 2 of the complete works.

Surpasses and Builds Upon Volume 1!
Let me first state that Clay Lomakayu is the perfect reader for these volumes. What can I say, I have read just about everything, and begun practicing many principles taught in Swami Vivekananda's volumes. I picked up the spiritual gifts of healing myself and others and talking to God, I have bi-located one time, passed on these same gifts to others, etc. and though these may seem impossible for someone just beginning, as you remove the bad egoic habits within, "the weight of your past karma", you unveil the good that was there already, something everyone can attain to if they do more than just read, but put into practice.
I put Swami Vivekananda up there with the works of the Imitation of Christ, St. John of the Cross (Dark Night of the Soul, The Assent of Mount Carmel) St. Teresa of Avila (Interior Castle), Guru Nanak, The Tao, Bhagavad Gita, Course in Miracles, Huang Po's works, St. Mother Teresa's works, Dr. David Hawking's works, and other prized works, but the main difference is Swami Vivekananda speaks in layman's terms someone not gifted with intellectual prowess can understand. His understanding of religion and spirituality is just awesome to listen to and ponder about.
The 18 hours goes by quickly, the learning doesn't stop, even I was riveted by some of the things the Swami spoke about, and his level of understanding was simply at a masters masters level. The Swami attained (Union, Christ Consciousness, Buddha Consciousness, Oneness, Ascension, Enlightenment) right before he left the world. What a gift are these books, such a treasure. Thank you Medicine of One for publishing these works for audible!

A Jewel of Wisdom
This is the second volume I purchased and felt this was deeper than volume 1. Clay channels Vivekananda well and I really enjoy his inflections.
It’s hard to believe this work is from lectures from over a hundred years ago about a philosophy thousands of years old. However, the subject matter and themes are relevant to everyday life today.
As a Christian, I never felt SV said anything that conflicted with what I truly felt in my heart. If anything, he echoed many of the concepts taught by Christ. Behold, the Kingdom of God is within you.

terrible narrator but Divine message
This book is so wonderful that not even a terrible narrator could ruin it. I was ok with "Are" for our and "yer" for you're but it just got worse and worse. It turned out to be an excellent exercise in detachment for 20 hours trying not to flinch with each new butchery of English. I guess if I was really spiritually evolved I wouldn't be writing this, but be forewarned not to let the narrator ruin Vivekananda's beautiful writing for you.
