About this listen

TV series starring Ella Purnell now on Sky Atlantic!

The last person who called me ‘Sweetpea’ ended up dead…

Rhiannon is your average girl next door, settled with her boyfriend and little dog…but she’s got a killer secret.

By day her job as an editorial assistant is demeaning and unsatisfying. By evening she dutifully listens to her friend’s plans for marriage and babies whilst secretly making a list.

A kill list.

From the man on the checkout who always mishandles her apples, to the driver who cuts her off on her way to work, to the people who have got it coming, Rhiannon’s ready to get her revenge.

Because the girl everyone overlooks might be able to get away with murder…

What did you like most about Sweetpea?

I loved that it was rather blunt and brutal. Whilst some of the subject matter was brutal it was actually quite funny, I kept giggling out loud - maybe I'm a little bit warped too!

It's like that little niggly rage voice you have inside your head and ignore as its utterly ridiculous and a complete over reaction at an everyday annoyance, but she did not ignore it.

She acted on it fully and very brutally without an ounce of gulit.

What did you like best about this story?

The main character made me laugh it's rare to find such a dark subject matter humorous.

I'm shocked that pretty much no one had any inkling on how messed up she was. I will never think of Sylvanian Families (toys) in the same light again.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I got through this fairly quickly as it caught my attention well from the get go. The author and the narrator are a great combination. I will certainly be looking at more book's by this author now.

Any additional comments?

I was sad it ended so suddenly, I wanted more.....

Psycho who hides it well...and makes you chuckle

I chose this audio book because it sounded a little different to my usual read/listen. I got quite addicted to it. I could not put it down. Easy to follow & excellent narrator. A different way to write about a serial killer

Not my usual read. A fun page turner

Couldn't switch off, as audible books go the description of a mix between American Phsycho and Fleabag is absolutely spot on.
Rhiannon is a very likeable if very worrying character, you find out more about why she is the way us slowly as the book develops and you learn about the events that made her the way she is.
Does she deserve s happy ending? Will she get one? you'll have to listen to the very last sentence..

Best listen in a long time - I was gripped

I really enjoyed this book. The reviews that likened it to Dexter were quite accurate. A female serial killer with a soft side and a sense of humor. I liked the juxtaposition between her ordinariness and her murderous intent. It was clever to share her internal dialogue with the reader and added a fresh dimension to the book. I thought the main character was well conceived and whilst knowing that she was a serial killer I still warmed to her. If I have any complaint it would be the fact that it was a little slow in the middle and lacked any tension or twist, but the end made up for that. I also enjoyed the narrator and felt she brought a freshness to the character. I have already downloaded In Bloom.

Enjoyable and something a bit different
