Summary
Kelly is a people pleaser and enjoys working as a nurse on the medical surgical floor of the hospital. She's also an avid Wildcat football fan.
On opening day, she agrees to work rather than go to the game, in an attempt to forget what happened last year. When her charge nurse asks her to take on a new patient, she's unable to say no and finds herself in a new and exciting predicament.
Learning to stand up for herself will be a challenge, but she's confident that this new patient will help her in more ways than she expects.

Fun short story!
I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook from JM Spade in exchange for an honest review. This was a cute but sweet short story about a meet cute between a nurse and a football player. iWorks have lived to have seen a longer story as I really enjoyed the characters.

Quick listen
This was a sweet romance, quick read/audiobook. The writing was decent. However, I did not appreciate the foul language included in the book. It would have been so much better without that included. I wish authors would understand adding that language does NOTHING for the storyline. While the narrator did a good job, it was a little hard to follow with the constant change in point of view.

Enjoyable short fread/listen
Surgical Complications: A Sweet Nursing Novella (Nursing Diaries, #2), my second read from author J.M. Spade. Well-written medical fiction, the second in a series. After reading The Wish Lists (Nursing Diaries, #1), my first read from author J.M. Spade. I looked forward to the second book in the series. More of a romance than its predecessor, if I'd read this book first I wouldn't have continued the series. Not bad, just not as good as the first book. I was been given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Teagan McKenzie’s sweet-voiced narration adds to the book's enjoyment. A nursing/football injury novella.
A sweet nursing/football injury novella. Well told by both author and narrator. Lots of feeling. Some angst. Entertaining.

Fate yields a surprise
Kelly is blindsided by her boyfriend at the beginning of this tale. A year later, her life is still somewhat upside down. Then as she is working her shift at the hospital, everything changes in a football play. The characters in this story are fun and believable as is the story line. Ms Spade wrote a cute, entertaining story and Ms McKenzie did a great job narrating it. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a review.

sorry
well, I'm sorry. I was really ready for a short and sweet story, but from the start, it just didn't click. I don't understand the need for a POV of the fling the heroine's boyfriends cheat on with. I can understand insta-lust, but it didn't make sense in this one. maybe if this was longer, if we had more conflict, maybe if we saw some reaction to the ex-boyfriend, but something in this one didn't work. I think even the narrator didn't understand what she was narrating... I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Too short
The narrator was excellent. The story was good but too short. I was just getting into it then it ended.

Creepy male love interest
I really liked the main female character but the football player was kinda creepy. I found it uncomfortable instead of cute or romantic.

Cute story
At first I found the narrators voice to be too robotic, but I adjusted the speed a bit, and that helped. Once that was taken care of, I could focus on the story. It was kind of hard to get into at first, but it changed around the time she was checking on her patients. I found myself liking the story by that point, and rooting for her. By the end of the story I found myself wishing this was a full length novel, and not just novella length. It is a good concept, and if it was given more time, I can imagine the depth the author would be able to give the characters, and more of their story to the readers/listeners. Given the potential shown in this story, I can’t wait to read more from this author.
