Editor reviews

The thrilling audiobook Jurassic Park is written by Michael Crichton and expertly narrated by Scott Brick. The novel has been adapted for the screen in 1993 and again in 2015 as a blockbuster of the same name. In either an exhilarating fantasy or an outlandish experiment gone terribly wrong, humans take dinosaur DNA and clone it in an attempt to put these incredible creatures back on Earth in a zoo. Then everything goes terribly wrong. Be enthralled as this book will take you on the adventure of a lifetime. Available now from Audible.

Critic reviews

"Scott Brick brings a chilling calm to the complex story with his deep, even tone and clear enunciation.... He does a particularly fine portrayal of John Hammond, the creator of the controversial park, giving the character a raspy edge that suits the dark agenda beneath his grandfatherly facade." You all know the plot from the film - mad billionaire creates a theme part full of genetically modified dinosaurs. I have to say though, and a lot of this is to do with the narration (Scott Brick is a favourite of mine), the audiobook is much more exciting.

Despite the T-Rex making the front cover, it is the velociraptors that stole the show; from seemingly adorable babies to cunning, predator adults. Kudos to Dr Grant, if I was him, I would have left Lex behind - she was incredibly annoying and kept putting them in danger, wee pain!

Excellent Ride

I did enjoy this, and thought the narration was very good, though I was flagging a little bit by the end - felt like the story easily could have been reigned in by an hour or so.

I do wish the author had been a bit more varied when it came to relating some of the dialogue. The number of times the characters' conversations followed the same "he said/she said/he said/she said" format became quite irritating. Maybe just a quirk of the conversion to audiobook, but it repeatedly felt like the kind of thing you'd expect from a kid writing a story at junior school, and it was really jarring and noticeable when it happened (which was quite a bit).

Pretty good

Like everyone else, I’ve seen the film but I wondered what the book was like. Quite superb and so much more depth than the film. Highly recommended

Thought the narrator was sometimes very monotonous but apart from that loved it. Hope you do the lost world too

Brill book worth 5 stars

Its a properly great story and told very well. my only recommendation would be either watch the film or read the book not both. if you watch the film you will be heart broken by the end of the book haha. 10 out of 10 tho!
