About this listen
At the height of the Vietnam War, a search and rescue team known as Vulture Squad is sent to an isolated jungle valley to uncover the fate of a missing Green Beret platoon.
As Vulture Squad hunts through the primordial depths of the valley, they discover ancient horrors that not only threaten to unravel their minds, but to end their lives, as well. When the casualties mount, the men of Vulture Squad must abandon their human nature and give in to their savage instincts to survive...the Primitive War.
Disclaimer: This novel is set in the Vietnam War, and as such, it isn't suitable for children. There is graphic violence, adult language, drug use, and many references to war-borne tragedy.

The horror moments hit their mark.
The dinosaurs & prehistoric reptiles all stood out from each other. There is some really neat speculative/fantastical behaviours for some of the critters.
The characters were mostly likeable and the ones who are iffy at first I found myself coming around on or at least feeling pity for.
Some characters as soon as they're introduced you know they're just included in the story to get mangled though.
The narration (While mostly good) would sometimes suck me out of my immersion when the narrator would randomly spring in to a deep edgy 2000's/2010's action movie trailer voice or randomly sound like he got a bug stuck in his throat, don't really know what he was going for, his normal voice was nice though.
One thing which personally didn't offend me but I can see potentially bothering others is the voice impressions of the Vietnamese characters, there were a few moments I thought the narrator was gonna go full "Oh herro" (Think Kim Jong II from Team America)
Primitive War isn't a masterpiece but its sincere and its fun, and the gore descriptions are satisfyingly gross. I don't think I can wait for the second audiobook to crack in to the sequel. I also look forward to the comics.
Thoroughly enjoyed, felt like a kid at times.
