Story
According to mythology, mankind used to live in 'The Tranquiline Halls': heaven. But then the Voidbringers assaulted and captured heaven, casting out God and men. Men took root on Roshar, the world of storms, but the Voidbringers followed. The Almighty gave men powerful suits of armor and mystical weapons, the Shardblades. Led by 10 angelic Heralds and 10 orders of knights known as Radiants, mankind finally won (or so the legends say).

A thousand years ago evil came to the land and has ruled with an iron hand ever since. The sun shines fitfully under clouds of ash that float down endlessly from the constant eruption of volcanoes. A dark lord rules through the aristocratic families, and ordinary folk are condemned to lives in servitude, sold as goods, labouring in the ash fields. Story
Defeated, crushed, and driven almost to extinction, the remnants of the human race is trapped on a planet that is constantly attacked by mysterious alien starfighters. Spensa, a teenage girl living among them, longs to be a pilot. When she discovers the wreckage of an ancient ship, she realizes this dream might be possible - assuming she can repair the ship, navigate flight school, and (perhaps most importantly) persuade the strange machine to help her. Story
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

REVIEW FOR THE AUDIBLE VERSION,NOT THE BOOK ITSELF
Downloaded it as soon as it came out and i was so happy to be able to track my progress with the chapter titles and book parts and so on. Then suddenly, 10hrs in, it stopped playing at all. All other books were working fine but this one would not play. So i removed from device and re-downloaded. But now all chapter titles and Book Parts and so on ARE COMPLETELY MISSING. And it stopped playing again... It's so sad that this amazing book's reviews are about the stupid app not working right!

Not as good as prior books
My least favourite book in the series so far (actually my least favourite Brandon Sanderson book). It lacks the magic touch of the prior books and there is IMO too much detail/focus on the fabriels, magic research and expansion of the universe the book is set in without explaining what is going on

Best One Yet!!!
Fantastic addition to the whole cosmere series. Sanderson ramps up the scale to an astronomical level, your favorite characters get development in a very unique way that i've rarely seen in books, especially the whole mental health aspects. Exploring the effects of how a prolonged war and tragedy will have on a mind. Great performance as always from Micheal Kramer and Kate Reading. Looking forward to the next book.

mental health issues
With a side of story, most of this book is about how broken Kaladin and Shallan are and it was a chore to listen to large parts of the book with the emotional payoff at the end not being worth the time(57 hrs). this book will be the one you skip through large parts if you ever reread the series.

Get woke, go broke?
Did Brandon Sanderson go to a liberal arts college and ask them what they think it feels like to be a stricken solder with PTSD? You know in the last 3 books, where sometimes you have to sit through the more uneventful chapters to get to the juicy stuff, you know those chapters of fluff that are there to bulk the story and maybe build on one small insignificant piece of the story? This book is made up almost entirely of those boring chapters. In fact I think the liberal arts college he took advice from even told him to stop writing about war, and write about mental health issues instead. This book feels like a Huffington Post editor got to it. It got to the point where I no longer even cared about Kaladin and what was going to happen. The last 10 chapters I listened too just so I could finish the book. This is nothing to the first three. This is a total and absolute shame on the series. Sure, it build the world, but it was just so DULL to read.

Another Perfect addition.
Once again Brandon Sanderson has woven a complex and compelling story. The latest installment to The Stormlight Archive is absolutely fantastic. Everyone has kind of split up and is doing their own thing, yet Sanderson still manages to make everything they are all doing feel relevant and integral to the plot moving forward. The different characters are all dealing with their own things and each time a chapter ends you wish you could spend more time with them to find out what is going to happen. But then you are immediately drawn in to the new story line and wanting to follow that one. There was a few times where I think things were beginning to drag, but then you realize it was all stuff you needed and didn't know you wanted. This is hands down the best modern fantasy series, and with only 1 book left I am going to miss every one of these characters moving on to the final 5 books to the series. Personal preference makes me wish that the story will continue with these characters instead of moving to a different story / arc because I really enjoy the first 3 Mistborn books but I just can't not get into the following 3 books. The story and setting changes in such a jarring way and i just don't like the new characters and setting. I only hope this is not the case when The Stormlight Archive moves on to the next 5 book phase. I really hope Brandon has learned from Mistborn and either sticks to the stormlightning in a bottle he has created, just like with the characters from the first 3 Mistborn books and keeps the Stormlight characters he has already created. If you are reading this series then no doubt you will love this book. if you haven't then I suggest you begin from The Way of Kings and enjoy the ride (or in this case, the lashings through the storm)

not what i was expecting, not what i wanted but...
let me first say that this book was great, amazing really, but the story largely takes a backseat in this book. this is a book about about characters, not so much the greater plot of the cosmere or even the stormlight archives, that's not to say that there is none of that in thid book, because there is, especially in the last 4 hours or so. But most of the book is an exploration of characters, particularly kaladin and shallan and how broken they are as people and their attempts to start to put themselves back together. if you're expecting grand battles or meaningful plot progression, it's certainly here, but it is secondary.

Not that I ever expected for this to be less than Amazing. but the great story, with some truly touching moments and so inspiring insights (especially after the year we have been through) combined with Michael Kramer's and Kate Reading's great narration, have made this one of the best things I have experience this year ,and just wonderful, regardless of 2020.
