Work. Sleep. Fitness. Family. Friends. Pick Three. We just need to learn to balance it all. Randi Zuckerberg doesn't believe in being well-balanced. We can't do it all every day, she contends, and trying to do so only leaves us frustrated and feeling inadequate. But we can succeed if we Pick Three.

Beyond race or class, our lives are defined by a powerful, unspoken system of divisions. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson gives an astounding portrait of this hidden phenomenon. Linking America, India and Nazi Germany, Wilkerson reveals how our world has been shaped by caste - and how its rigid, arbitrary hierarchies still divide us today. With clear-sighted rigour, Wilkerson unearths the eight pillars that connect caste systems across civilisations and demonstrates how our own era of intensifying conflict and upheaval has arisen as a consequence of caste.

For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Great book
I really enjoyed reading this very practical book on how to thrive on retirement. The author has a, great concept on the importance on goal setting and realistic planning. The only thing is I wish it was longer. I would definitely recommend this book if your thinking abojt what to do after you retire from your employment.

So disappointing and very out dated
Most of this book is written for people who are retiring after age 65 with a spouse. Assumes that the retiree is a male and the woman has been home. As a single female executive, retiring at 62 I could not relate to any of this book. I was hoping for a more contemporary look at retirement today. In a nutshell, this book is going to recommend you do volunteer work, spend more time with family, travel, etc. I already knew that. I was hoping for more. Wish I had my money back.

A stick in the mud!
The author seems to be stuck in the 60s, since he mostly infers that only males retire and at 65. In fact, he cites reference material that retiring earlier can be dangerous to your health, which is ridiculous! Further, all or at least a great majority of his stories center around men. He’s preachy about service and working, and at first, this was tolerable but after a few hours pretty annoying.

I wasn't sure if I could finish it at first.
The book is heavy on the mental challenge to retirement and that is what I was looking for. I've listened to others on the sam topic. At first, I found the narrator annoying. He sounded like Lloyd Bridges from the movie Airplane. There are a lot of quotes in the book were the author or his examples speak in absolutes. "I always do this", "I never do that". It all sounded like it was coming from old, curmudgeonly, people. There were enough meat and potatoes type tips in the book to offset any small annoyance and there were solid takeaways. I even got used to the narrator by the end of it.

Excellent and not just for retirees
Excellent book regardless where you are in life and especially if you are attempting to 'figure out' your 'retirement' time - It is filled with humor and great ideas about NOT 'retiring'
This is one of those books that is a great read and listened to in an effort to glean everything it has to offer.
The four hours for the listen go quick and as I noted, it has enough humor to make you laugh out loud.
Well worth the time and money.

A Franklin planner for your retirement
Useful stuff, but I kinda felt like I was back in Franklin planner training in 1986 all over again. I picture Hyrum Smith going around in 2018 with a paper planner mapping out his day, this book and his life.
In a nutshell, "figure out what matters to you, make checklists, and do it". I'm a checklist kind of guy, so it resonates with me. I get a sense of accomplishment from doing things. Other people have different motivations.
like I said, some good stuff in here, if a bit dated and presented as bromides and cliches. I'm going to make a second pass and ...make checklists :-)
