About this listen

A Gotrek and Felix Novel.

Gotrek and Felix delve into the dark places of the world once again, to help a dwarf prince reclaim his realm. But with greenskins around every corner, Gotrek's doom could be at hand...

Listen to it because...

A new era begins for Gotrek and Felix! A long time has passed and the world has changed, but their penchant for getting into trouble certainly hasn't...

The story:

Gotrek and Felix – unsung heroes of the Empire, or nothing more than common thieves and murderers? The truth perhaps lies somewhere in between, and depends entirely upon whom you ask...

After twenty years exploring other lands, Gotrek and Felix return to the Old World to find Chaos invaders rampaging through the lands of men, and the mountain holds of the dwarfs overrun by the foul orcs and goblins. Fulfilling an ancient oath, the pair travel deep beneath the world to help a dwarf prince reclaim his realm from the greenskins. But all is not as it seems, and Gotrek may finally meet his doom in the halls of his ancestors...

Usually you can expect that if a long running series changes authors the quality of writing takes an unavoidable dip… Not in this case! The story was riveting and the personal moments were weary well handled. If you’d told me this was written by William King I would say that it is one of his best novels. Really hopeful for the series moving on.

New Author is great!

If you like noir or grimdark stories this book is for you if you like happy, stupidly comical stories this book is for you. It all blends together into an amazing heartwarming and heart wrenching story that will have you laughing out loud and gloomy with sorrow.

Even though I was sceptical at first due to the new writer my fears were soon washed away and I look forward to when they release the next Gotrek and Felix Book.

The Story teller as always is amazing making every character unique and believable as expected from Jonathan Keeble

This book has both bright and dark tones

There are always teething trouble when a new author takes over and aside from some minor pacing issues and a rather jarring time skip its a good read.

A bit slow.

To be very honest, having read all of William King’s G&F books over the last twenty or so years, I was unsure what another Authors take on these characters would be like? I needn’t have been worried. This is excellent, although you can tell that Nathan Long has added his own ideas to carry on this legendary series. Well done Mr Long.

Another Great Tale

Oh boy. If you are reading this, you likely have read the rest of the Slayer books.
This is without a doubt the grimdarkest one so far. Too much even.
Sure. Its got a well done timeskip, tons of dwarf lore and engaging battles. Also the Narrator does a magnificent job as always.
However its the first time this series has gotten carried away with the abject grimdarkness. The rest stayed on the knife edge of what's catharticly brutal and whats too much. This hits that in the second to last chapter and then the last chapter goes way overboard with it.
Bear that in mind, but it makes Vampireslayer look like a fun affair by the end.

Dwarf lore and the Grimmest of Dark.
