About this listen

'Maigret looked at him in some confusion, wondering if he was dealing with a skilful actor or, on the contrary, with a sickly little man who found consolation in a subtle sense of humour.'

A series of anonymous letters leads Maigret into the wealthy household of an eminent lawyer and a curious game of cat and mouse with Paris high society.

The cast performed well and the tale flowed along smoothly. A fine production. Full marks.

All I can say is what's in the headline - if l could give Simenon's Maigret more than 5 stars, l would. The stories are never less than intriguing, and always thrilling. Beautiful language, beautifully narrated.

Worth more than 5 stars.

This started out as a riveting Maigret story and continued that way until the end which I thought was rather weak. Some Maigret’s are superb but some have rather weak endings and others, like Madame Magnet’s Friend, are just absurd in their implausibility

Excellent - except for the ending.

The story takes place in one building and the characters are well drawn and interesting. A good story and well worth listening to.
