Summary

Following a home invasion, a woman begins to wonder if her perfect life is a lie.

Beth Jacobsen wakes up in the middle of the night to a home break-in and is held at knife point.

Her faithful dog is injured when trying to fend off her attackers. Not so heroic is her husband, Marty, who seems to freeze and resign to whatever fate awaits her.

Although they fight off the intruders, things are just about to get a whole lot worse.

Marty makes a revelation that means they can’t go to the police. Rather they’ll head, with a new set of troubles, to secluded White Mist Lake Retreat.

Yet instead of finding tranquility and a chance to heal there, Beth will be forced to confront a sickening truth and the danger following in its wake.

Lost to the Lake is a thoroughly tantalizing listen by master of suspense fiction, Anna Willett. If you enjoy thrillers that keep you up all night, you’ll love this pause-resister.

Anna Willett is the author of several best-selling thriller titles, including Dear Neighbour, The Family Man, and Unwelcome Guests.

Exciting, realistic and just plain scary!

I really loved everything about this Audible presentation. The story was exciting and well-paced. The suspense never let up. The setting in Australia and especially at the deserted lake resort was creepy and atmospheric. The perfect setting for the crimes to unfold. This book is also a domestic suspense novel as you witness the marriage of the main characters unravel. It felt very realistic and you find yourself wondering how would I handle what is going on here. Beth discovers that she is clueless about what her husband really does to make the nice money she has been enjoying and she overlooks the red flags that go up about his behavior and compulsions. The book is just the right length and builds to a thrilling ending but it also follows up on the characters after the final events. I loved the narrator and thought her voice was perfect. This is a very enjoyable, suspenseful novel that you won't want to stop listening to.
