Summary

BOOK ONE OF THE GALLAGHERS OF ARDMORE TRILOGY

In Gallagher’s Pub, where the fire is burning low and the pints are waiting, #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts has a story to tell...

Determined to reevaluate her life, Jude Murray flees America to take refuge in Faerie Hill Cottage, immersing herself in the study of Irish folklore and discovering hope for the future of the magical past.

Finally back home in Ireland after years of traveling, Aidan Gallagher possesses an uncommon understanding of his country’s haunting myths. Although he’s devoted to managing the family pub, a hint of wildness still glints in his eyes - and in Jude, he sees a woman who can both soothe his heart and stir his blood. And he begins to share the legends of the land with her - while they create a passionate history of their own.

This narrator is awful

This is a typical Nora Roberts novel. Exactly what you'd expect. Only one irritating thing; Irish people don't speak Gaelic, we speak Irish.
The really annoying bit was the narration. The "Irish" accents were horrendous. I have never heard an Irish person that sounded anything like this. It was actually painful.
Also, she manages to mispronounce every single Irish word.
I won't be getting the next two instalments because I can't stand this woman's narration.

Heart of the sea

I have both the book plus kindle book ,then I bought the audio book. Absolutely awful narration on all the trilogy. An American putting on a dreadful Irish accent - really really bad - spoils the whole trilogy.

Blimin' awful narration. Read the book!

oh my goodness what appaling, painful narration!!...an American a-t-t-e-m-p-t-i-n-g Irish accents.
oh good gracious!!... This could be an ok general romance (which also admittedly is not usually my preferred genre choice) that said with wonderful Irish narrators could have been nice enough...

Set in Ireland, lovely rugged landscape, small town, local characters, Irish folklore etc which is very nice.
I LOVE to listen to audio books as it saves on eyestrain and if a good story has excellent narrator(s) it transports you into the story...
Dear fellow Audible fans... we are all here for wonderful, immersive listening experiences...
In THIS instance, would advise - visit your 'local good bookshop' and buy the paperback(s)!! as all three of this series on Audible has the same narrator for the trilogy of the 'Gallaghers of Ardmore'....
these titles any self respecting bookshop can order for you if not found in store.

Not good at all

Just couldn’t get into it, struggled to finish. Story line was predictable and poorly narrated.

Awful narration

Couldn't get into the story, largely because the narrator was dreadful but also because nothing was happening... at all.

Slow start

Been getting very into Nora roberts for the last couple of years, I found this a very slow starter, other people have complained about the narrator barring the nit great accent that didn’t bother me so much but maybe it’s why I found it a hard one to get into, once it picks up though I’ve found it really good and will be getting the next book, hopefully it keeps getting better

The story is nice, not exciting like other stories by the same author.

It was am easy listen and I liked the characters enough to buy the next book in the trilogy x

Not one of her best

Struggled with this book, which wasn't helped by the narrator. It sounded very flat, without the usual passion from the person telling the story. Giving up for now, and moving on to another book

Disappointing

Story interesting but shame the narrator’s accents became pitiful and annoying which detracted from the story.

The arc of the story.

The accents were well executed but occasionally the tone of the narrator lacked true life.
