Summary

Unique to this title is:

  • An Overview of Pride and Prejudice
  • A Study of The Themes Present in Pride and Prejudice
  • A list of the best famous quotes from Pride and Prejudice

You may of course skip all of it and go straight to the main title if you do not want any spoilers and come back later to the beginning.

Jane Austen's early novels are a comic portrait of characters and society. Pride and Prejudice depicts late 18th-, early 19th-century England where the social class system was very rigid. Behavior was very important, especially for women who were hoping to find a husband, and having good behavior meant sticking to the right manners and right forms of address. Everyone watched everyone else and noted even tache slightest changes in mannerism, so it was very important to use the right manners all the time. This applied to women much more than to men.

The main heroine, Elizabeth, is witty, educated, intelligent, and capable of much more than being polite, having a decent face expression, and moving gracefully. However, living in the 19th century, her choices in life are very limited.

Fantastic Listen

I have listened to many Pride and Prejudice audiobooks over the years and this is one of the best! Eleanor Burrows did a fabulous job with voices. I especially loved her voice for Lydia! She nailed it! Pride and Prejudice is of course a fabulous story! There is a reason why so many people love it! The introduction at the beginning is great for listeners new to the story. I received a copy of this audiobook at my request, and I have voluntarily left this review.

Great!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This is a favorite story of mine. I have listened to a few other audio versions and found this one really enjoyable. I thought it was very light and the narrator had a good use of different voices. I would highly recommend this version.

Excellent presentation of Pride & Prejudice

This is a very well done, entertaining presentation of Pride & Prejudice. The narrator perfectly reads the novel differentiating her voice by character. This makes for a very enjoyable story to hear. (Her voice is perfect for Mrs. Bennet! ) "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

You can't go wrong

It's Pride and Prejudice - you cannot go wrong. Ever. Not even sure what to say about it, If you know the story you either love it or hate it, so that means you'll either love or hate this narration. Just roll with it and love it. It's Jane Austen!

Well done!

This audio recording of Pride and Prejudice is very well done. Very dramatically done to give it entertainment value beyond the basic story. I, personally, find the narrator to have a slightly high-pitched, irritating voice, but I have gotten used to it. She does a great job performing the story. I really like that the study of themes, an overview and famous quotes are included in the book. These can be skipped if you aren't interested in them, which is another plus. They are easy to choose from a menu when you want to access them. BTW, I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Enjoyable

Presentation was excellent. I had never read Pride and Prejudice and wonder why it is a "classic". Perhaps because so few books written by and for women at the time. It was good and kept my interest, just didn't make me want to read more Jane Austen.

One of my favorite classics!

This is my favorite book I’ve read/listened to by this author. This is the fourth audio rendition I’ve listened to. Having the overview and themes at the beginning added to this experience. For those that don’t understand society at that time, I think it may help make the book’s storyline more understandable. This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Eleanor Burrows ). She did a great job narrating this book. She has a pleasant pace and cadence. She has a pleasant pace and cadence, and chooses appropriate voices for all the characters. There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review. Great story with strong willed characters

This is the first time I’ve heard this story. I’ve never read the book either. I like the fact that it has a historical overview about the Author. It helps you appreciate her work even more. It also provides the theme of the story as well as favorite quotes. It is ironic that I myself am a member of a Bennett family and my parents had 5 girls. I really enjoyed the narrators ability to change from one character to another. I liked Elizabeth’s strong character she spoke what was on her mind. I liked the banter between her and Mr. Darcy. This was a long listen so be prepared but it is so worth listening to. I liked how Elizabeth had turned down Mr. Collins and her mother Mrs. Bennett was a character I didn’t too much care for. I won’t go into my reason for not liking her character I’ll let you form your own opinion when you listen to this story. I would recommend this story to fans of the Author and to those that love the classics. It was an easy listen. Not at all boring. I was gifted a copy to voluntarily download and review and therefore, I am voluntarily leaving my own opinion in this review.
