Summary
A pulse-pounding novel about a small-town business owner found dead and the teenage girl caught in the crosshairs, American Girl is the latest thriller from international best-selling author Wendy Walker.
Charlie Hudson, an autistic 17-year-old, is determined to leave Sawyer, PA, as soon as she graduates high school - in the meantime, she works as many hours as she can at a sandwich shop called The Triple S to save money for college. But when shop owner Clay Cooper - a man who is both respected and feared by many in this economically depressed community - is found dead, each member of his staff becomes a suspect in the perplexing case. Charlie must work to protect herself and her friends and uncover the danger that may still be at large in their tightknit community.
Best-selling author Wendy Walker returns with another riveting thriller, told through the eyes of an unforgettable protagonist.

Brilliantly Narrated
The Narrator for Charlie is fantastic, I kept going with this book as she really manages to draw you in to the story. An easy listen with a nice little twist.

I didn’t want this to end!
I enjoyed this book so much. The story tugged me right in from the beginning. There were twists and turns all along the way. I loved all the characters I was supposed to love and despised those I didn’t. The narrator has a Canadian accent (I think - I’m English) and somehow it was softer than those USA narrators I’ve heard on Audible. It seemed to fit our heroine very well. And I almost understood all the pieces of the jigsaw. I hope there are more Wendy Walker books out there. Enjoy!!

different in a good way
I really enjoyed this book. I was looking for something different and this delivered on that although the storyline was not particularly unique or special, the delivery with the acted out chapters brought something extra.
I found it to be quite simple language and repetitive in places but overall the characters were well developed and there was enough intrigue to keep me wanting to get to the end.

I never write reviews but LOVE this story so much
I never write reviews but because I enjoyed this story so much I had to tell others how good it is. firstly I'm autistic so totally related to the main character Charlie, the performance of both narration and play script is perfect, I sometimes find it hard to follow play script but this combination really brought the story to life, there plenty of clever plot twists so keeps you guessing all the way through. I'd recommend to anyone that loves a good who done it with a difference
