Summary

What would you do to save yourself?

In the village where “all are welcome and those in need may stay” long-buried secrets keep rising to the surface. With renovations on the house finally complete, Jayne and Tripp are ready to open their B&B. Villagers and tourists gather for their grand opening barbecue. Close friends check in as their first guests. Aside from a minor glitch or two, everything is going to plan...and then someone turns up dead on the side of the road.

Unsure if she’s looking for a murderer or a hit-and-run driver, Jayne jumps headlong into figuring out what happened. Her confidence is shaken, though, when some of the locals point out that the rash of murders started when she arrived in the village, insinuating that she brought the darkness hovering over Whispering Pines. Now, in the middle of a possible murder investigation, Jayne must clear her own name as well.

It doesn't look like a hit and run.

At last, the old house has been spruced and restored and turned into a B and B, just in time for the tail end of the tourist season and a grand opening is arranged. The first guests are old friends of Jayne, also the local sheriff, for whom the success of the new business will determine whether or not Whispering pines itself will survive as the land on which it was built belonged to her re gently deceased grandmother as somewhere to welcome those uncomfortable in the outside world. But since Jayne's arrival some months beflre, secrets have been tumbling out of the woodwork...

Would grandmother have approved of her opening the house to strangers? And is the body by the road a simple accident or has murder struck again? The characters in this small town grow comfortably more familiar as Jayne herself settles in to this beautiful, if somewhat mysterious area of countryside. A stand alone read but much better if the series is dead in sequence. Narration by Sandra Murphy is simply excellent with a full range of vocal depths and heights. She does full justice to the story increasing the reader's involvement and enjoyment.

I very much enjoy this tale of small town wicken folk and am grateful to the rights holder of Hidden Secrets: Whispering Pines who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy, via Audiobook Boom. Thank you.
A delightfully enjoyable book.

Fantastic

This is the first I have read by this author but it won't be the last. The book was well written and kept me wanting to hear more. The twists and turns were well done and the characters all came to life. The Narrator did a great job of breathing life into the world and keeping you engaged the whole way through. I will definitely have to pick up the rest in the series. I was given a free copy of this audio in return for an unbiased review.

I liked it but I didn't love it

This is the second book in the series for me but I think it will be my last. I love the small town atmosphere and I don't have any real issues with the two main characters. I did not enjoy the mystery. The who and the why was not compelling. It was just 'meh." I did enjoy the narration though.

Quirky Village

This is the 2nd book of the series that I have listened to and it was nice to get more understanding of the characters. Sheriff O'Shea and Tripp are finally opening their B&B with a grand opening weekend. One of the guests of the weekend, who is boorish and objectionable, is found dead by the side of the road. Was he a victim of a hit and run, or was it murder? O'Shea has her hands full with the investigation leaving Tripp to make sure the guests are taken care of. More than one storyline is going on in this quirky village with its interesting group of characters.I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Good

I have not read any of this series, so I was a little lost. I see that all the reviews I read are from readers who have read the whole series and the reviews are 4 or 5 stars. I was asked to leave an honest review so 3 is the most I can give. I thought Sandra Murphy did a wonderful job of narrating this book. She deserves a 5 star in my opinion.
I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review.

Fantasy Murder Mystery

Even though this was the first book I have read in this series, I found it was easy to read along. There is a lot going on in the town in this book, and I think reading the other books in the series would make it easier to understand the history.

Where this book begins, Jayne is taking over the land that her grandmother once owned of a small village filled with all kinds of Wiccan history. It’s an exclusive village, and the villagers are concerned about her opening up her bed and breakfast due to the new faces that will be coming and going from the village.

Jayne waves off their concerns until one of the visitors turns up dead. In this riveting mystery, everyone has secrets, and as Jayne searches for the murderer, all the dirty laundry of Whispering Pines comes to the surface.

I really did adore this book and all the well-defined characters. My only issue with it is the number of times the character said “woo woo” in reference to the Wiccans and their beliefs. Other than that, this is a great read!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

A fun jaunt back to Whispering Pines.............

Hidden Secrets is the fourth book in the Whispering Pines Mystery Series, and I think it would be confusing as a standalone, since so much of the history of the town and the residents factors into all four books. Hidden Secrets is the perfect blend of police procedural, cozy mystery, paranormal and romance, so it has something for every reader to enjoy. The book opens with Jayne, the sheriff of Whispering Pines, and her boyfriend Tripp finally opening their bed and breakfast. They throw a party for the guests and residents of the town on opening night, so we get a re-introduction to all our favorite characters. Unfortunately, the grand opening excitement is dimmed when Jayne discovers a dead body along the road and must open a murder investigation. This is where the police procedural factors in as Jayne painstakingly interviews the varied suspects, both locals and visitors. I didn't guess the perpetrator or the motive before Jayne pinned it down, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching her get to that point. Another excellent entry in this highly entertaining mystery series.

Sandra Murphy's narration is amazing! She narrates all the books in the series, and she is the perfect choice for Jayne's character. Her delivery is flawless, she differentiates very well between characters, and her tone is perfect for every emotion in the story. I hope to listen to many more entries read by Murphy in the Whispering Pines Mystery Series.
