Summary

With her 40th birthday approaching, Lucy Carpenter dares to hope that she finally has it all: a wonderful new husband, Jonah, a successful career and the chance of a precious baby of her own. Life couldn't be more perfect.

But the reality of becoming parents proves much harder than Lucy and Jonah imagined. Jonah's love and support is unquestioning, but as Lucy struggles with work and her own failing dreams, the strain on their marriage increases. Suddenly it feels like Lucy is close to losing everything...

Heart-wrenching and poignant, this latest work by best-selling author Amanda Prowse asks the question: what does it mean to be a mother in today's hectic world? And what if it's asking too much to want it all?

A Compassionately Good Read

Not ever having been a mother through choice, I was initially concerned that I wouldn’t be able to relate to the characters in this book. It only took a couple of chapters to realise that the subject of miscarriage was approached compassionately and as part of a story I very much enjoyed.

Very touching .

A little insight into what terrible heartbreak is experienced by a whole family when a miscarriage happens and a series of them must be SO heartbreaking.

Beyond irritating narration

I found this book rather self indulgent. The main character was self absorbed and made everything about her. In fact all the characters were annoying

I nearly abandoned this somewhere in the middle

I'm glad I didn't. It was a story filled with love but also heavy on the sadness.
