Summary

Anna Cole grew up poor, but her mother's love made her feel rich every day. Then her mother died, and Anna was sent to a care home. As a teenager, Anna vowed that one day she would have children of her own and create the happy, noisy family life she always craved. Then, one day, Anna meets Theo Montgomery in a lift.

Theo has kind eyes but a sad past. His family were rich, but his childhood was full of neglect. Theo can't imagine bringing a child into this cruel world, but he does want a soul mate. Someone to love him unconditionally; someone with whom he can share his family's wealth.

Theo and Anna are two damaged souls from two different worlds. Is their love for each other enough to let go of the pain of their pasts? Or will Anna and Theo break each other's heart?

I wanted to like it but....

I'm afraid this book irritated me. A very sorrowful tale full of heartbreak, which isn't a bad thing but the narration made Anna feel very childlike and immature, she made no transition from child to adult and irritated the life out of me, she was very whingey. I mean yes, she had a hell of a life and reason to whinge but still. There was no real depth to any of the characters. I persevered because I wanted to know what happened but can't bring myself to listen to the sequel, not for me unfortunately.

Compelling.

How clever to have written two corresponding novels. As always compelling story lines, beautifully written and narrated. I am so grateful to Amanda Prowse for all her work, real escapism, especially now, during the Covid pandemic.

You will be rooting for Anna within minutes

A story of a young girl as she goes through her life and overcomes adversity. You will find yourself caring for her and willing her to have the best life. I'd love to read a follow on book taking Anna through the next stages of her life. You cant help but like her.

🌹Highly Recommend 🌹

Wonderful. Rare. Beautifully narrated by the author herself. I can’t recommend it enough for those who love wonderfully written novels about people who come to full life, with all its love and heartbreak, through the written and spoken word. Anna B. and Theo, Jorden, Lisa and Mellissa, Anna’s mom and others you’ll be glad to meet. If you like this kind of thing, that is.

Now, I can’t wait to get to know Theo more deeply.

Amanda Prowse continues to be a stellar story teller!

Anna is heartwarming, yet heartbreaking story of a little girl who faces one tragedy after another, as she reaches adulthood. Through it all Anna shares how she gets through it, while remembering her beloved mother’s advice and unconditional love. I’m excited to read the next book in the series, Theo, told from the perspective of the love of Anna’s life!
