    "Love this series to pieces!"

Did I mention I love this series!! It is part cozy mystery, part contempo romance and a whole lotta ghostie fun!

Helene cracks me up! She is just so much trouble!

The lead this time is Sabine, who we met in the first book and had a tiny taste of what was to come for her.

I love her sassy attitude. She does annoy a touch with her fake psychic job, although she is more of a counselor to her clients.

Beau is a deliciously hunky PI. He is a perfect match for Sabine! Love their dynamic.

This is a open bedroom door, that means at least one scene with a little steamy detail!! Not your typical cozy at all! It is not a full on smexy erotic read, but it is far from squeaky clean. I loved it!

This is a mixed narrative, that flows nicely. We go between the two leads POV for most of the book, with a few supporting spots thrown in throughout. Gives a much fuller read!

The mystery this time was more predictable, well up until the curve-ball. If you see it coming, you are a whole lot wiser than me! Twists can be fun but this was totally left field!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Johanna Parker, who is fantastic. I love the gentle roll to her Southern accents, they are light but distinct. The pace is quick enough to keep the reader engaged and her energy is wonderful. Great voices that stayed distinct and consistent.

I am really enjoying this series and can not wait to see what happens next!!! Super quirky fun series!!!

"not enough of the mother inlaw !!!!!"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

    probably not this one

Would you be willing to try another book from Jana DeLeon? Why or why not?

it depends, I would only listen if I knew there would be more of the mother inlaw she is a hoot !

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

No but because I like Johanna parker so much I dealt with it.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

the romance was okay but i got this second book because the mother inlaw is so funny and this book it was like they would forget she was supposed to be in it and then they would throw in a scene and you'd say ok now she is back only for her to disappear again.

    Any additional comments?

The writer seemed to have forgotten that the series is called the ghost in-law the first book was good the second was too, since it was through the ghost mother in-laws eyes. but the 3rd she was hardly around so I am not sure I will use a credit to find out if she did the same thing in the next book.

"Enjoying the series, has some good humour"
    Any additional comments?

There seems to be a need for some authors to throw in to pieces they have written unnecessary sex scenes. I am not in any way a prude, but in the middle of what had been a good funny story comes a sex scene that is rather descriptive and not at all necessary. This could be skipped by the author making a suggestion of the "event".

    "A really funny mystery!"

Ghost Helena returns in Jana DeLeon’s Mischief in Mudbug, but this time she focuses on helping Sabine, whom we met in Trouble in Mudbug as the best friend of Maryse, the main character and daughter-in-law of Helena. Orphaned as an infant and raised by a great-aunt who claims no knowledge of any other family members, Sabine has long sought out her family and some knowledge of her parents. Just as she has gained a measure of peace about her background, she learns that she has leukemia, making the search for her family become important once again. Thus, Sabine’s mentor, Raisa, hires a private investigator to track down Sabine’s family, using a drawing Raisa makes based upon a picture Helena is able to generate from her look into the other side that she can’t reach. Beau, a former FBI agent and the hottest man Sabine has ever seen, finds her family in a span of only a couple days, but they clearly have some hidden secrets.

This book is a funny book with a good mystery too. Helena just cracked me up throughout the whole book, whether she is eating Sabine’s food while invisible or changing her myriad costumes. I laughed at her “disguise” for sneaking around the hospital, dressed as a nun, despite the fact that only Sabine can see her. One of the funniest incidents involves Helena stealing files from the New Orleans Police Department and pushing along a hot dog cart as camouflage. When you realize that Helena is invisible even to Sabine, the scene becomes wild.

I came to really connect to the characters in this book, all of whom are well-rounded and vividly drawn. I felt I knew each one and could recognize many of them on the street. Of course, though, my favorite character was Helena, who was a whole lot of fun.

I really enjoyed the narration of Johanna Parker in the audio edition of the book. She gives terrific voices to the individual characters and makes the book come alive. I can sense her enjoyment of this delightful book as she reads the whole thing.

I really loved the experience of reading Mischief in Mudbug from start to finish. It began nicely and just got better as it continued. The suspense built strongly and gave the book a strong plot and details of the story and motive. This book greatly impressed me. I give it five stars!

    "Lighthearted Mayhem"

A fun series. There is a formulaic romance, a zany mystery with twists and turns, as well as a mischievous peckish ghost.
The first book involved Maryse, Helena's daughter-in-law. This book is about her best friend Sabine who is also a good looking woman who meets a hot guy and basically finds love at first sight, same as Maryse.
The good: Helena, the ghost-in-law, is a scream; she is making the most of the afterlife. A mystery that keeps the curve balls coming. Lots of laughs.
The not so good: Not a fan of cancer plot lines as they are generally unrealistic. (A rather large assumption that family members would be a bone marrow match or that they would want to donate to a complete stranger). Maryse's cancer research is just a little too pat for me.
    Simple, silly, downright funny.
