i liked the general story line but why so many in depth recipes it was unnecessary and seemed like story padding.

story would be better without the vegan recipes

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, but right from the start it pulls you in to a world you just have to accept exists; immortality and living gargoyles!
But the main story is a whodunnit mystery that keeps you guessing until the end.
A really good listen :)

Good story, excellent narrator. Spoiled only by the constant repetition of words in the same sentence or over a couple.

The voice is good but the story itself is slow paced and repetitive. Far too much time spent discussing vegan cooking and not enough on the actual mystery making it feel like there is no urgency at all despite the whole premise being against the clock. Somewhat ironically this felt like it had all the right ingredients but couldn’t quite get the proportions right.

I enjoyed this little bit of magical fluff. A little bit of peril, of romance and of magic was exactly what I needed in this stressy run-up to the festive season. The narrator is lovely, gentle and full of warmth. Don't expect a difficult or convoluted plot; you'll probably work it out pretty quickly, but it doesn't matter; it's a light, bouncy read, not demanding and left me wanting to read the follow-up.
