Publisher's Summary

Plunged into the often indistinguishable realms of fiction, fantasy, and hidden desires, Auden Frost discovers a shifting landscape that will force her to question everything she has believed to be true about herself and the nature of love.

Auden's journey begin's one winter morning when she interviews for a much-needed position as an editor at Palmer Publishing. Haydon Palmer, the powerful young head of the company, offers Auden something far different - something that ultimately forces them both to confront their deepest fears and utmost desires. Unable to resist Hays's challenge and unaware of the charismatic woman's closely guarded secrets, Auden soon finds herself on a path that will transform both their lives.

    Story
    "One of Rad's Best Books!"

This is one of my favorite books by Radclyffe, I've about read them all. I really hate to give a bad review of anything, but have to say the narrator for this book is awful, not a good fit at all. She sounds better suited for a Disney book or Dr. Seuss. With an incessant up lilting voice and total lack of the deep emotional sounding voice that is required of this book. When the main characters finally sleep together for the first time her choppy robocall voice didn't do it justice. Narrator Nicol Zanzarella or a vocal expressionist equivalent would have been a godsend.

    Story
"I think a high schooler could have written this. "
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I guess fans of Radclyffe would enjoy this. This is the first of her books I've read/listened to and it was just not enjoyable. Her writing style feels juvenile, like something I would have written when I was in high school.

What was most disappointing about Radclyffe’s story?

The fact that she comes highly recommended as a lesbian fiction writer and her style is just embarrassingly bad. There was so much unnecessary detail that added nothing to the story but word count.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Paige McKinney?

I don't know, but all I can say is I would not choose Paige. Her tone of voice just doesn't fit with the story and I found her hard to listen to.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Well, it was a lesbian romance and there were a LOT of lesbians, which I like... I also like the fact that Auden was a virgin and was discovering her sexuality. This is something new to me in the lesbian fiction I've read.

    Any additional comments?

The format of this book was difficult to listen to. It kept switching from the main story to the books/stories the characters were writing and reading. The narrator didn't leave enough audible space between the different formats.

    Story
"Good story, but didn't like narrator."
Would you listen to Love's Masquerade again? Why?

    Maybe.

What did you like best about this story?

    The characters.

What didn’t you like about Paige McKinney’s performance?

It was flat especially the love scenes, no passion.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes.

    Any additional comments?

The audio would have been better if narrator was better.

    Story
    "Excellent Audio!"

I loved Love's Masquerade. I have read it several times before. But listening to it was a whole different story. There is quite a bit of sex in the book, both with the main characters and in the manuscripts they write and review. Tastefully and skillfully written by Radclyffe. Great story of Auden and Hays in a publishing house setting. This is one book that was improved by putting it on audio. Paige McKinney does an excellent job with the narration.
