Summary

Life for Lady Adelaide Bell was easier if she hid in her older sister's shadow - which worked until her sister got married. Even with the pressure of her socially ambitious mother, the last thing she expected was a marriage of convenience to save her previously spotless reputation.

Lord Trent Hawthorne couldn't be happier that he is not the duke in the family. He's free to manage his small estate and take his time discovering the life he wants to lead, which includes grand plans of wooing and falling in love with the woman of his choice. When he finds himself honor bound to marry a woman he doesn't know, his dream of a marriage like his parents' seems lost forever.

Already starting their marriage on shaky ground, can Adelaide and Trent's relationship survive the pressures of London society?

Good story line

Cute story and here is my BUT; the narrator read like she was on 'allow play'. Listening to her was very tedious.

This one is for reading.

I had to buy the print version. Narration is stilted and brutal to listen to.

Great story with horrible narration...

This is an interesting story, but the narrator has a terrible voice. She also tries too hard to imitate male voices. She sounds scratchy and pitchy at best. Ugh! I couldn't even finish listening to this because of the narrator. I hope this author goes back to using Ann Marie Gideon as narrator for her future novels.

A little different

Definitely the most spicy of all of the Hawthorne House books. Nothing inappropriate, but a lot more sexual tension than any other book. this installment is unique as Trent doesn't marry for love as the other siblings do. However, the twist makes it very interesting. Still a Christian romance and highly recommended. I enjoyed it. This narrator did the previous book, and I didn't enjoy her so much in that book. However, this one was a little bit easier for me to get used to. Ultimately she does a good job.

Couldn't get to the ending fast enough

Never liked the characters, started weak and became weaker and foolish. The story started in a wedding, this was one where it should have started sooner. He had no idea about sex, neither did she, by chapter 7 I was hoping it was a novella and would end soon. It took weeks to finish it because I paid for it.

not at all my cup of tea

I was not fond of the immature hero. The constant reference to the bible was also very annoying. The hero struggled for most of the book with acting like a teenager. But right at the end puff he matured by reading the bible.... really ????? The other books in the series also had some biblical references, but this one just had too much for my taste....
