About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Jack Reacher will make three stops today. Not all of them were planned for.

First – a Baltimore coffee shop. A seat in the corner, facing the door. Black coffee, two refills, no messing around. A minor interruption from two of the customers, but nothing he can’t deal with swiftly. As he leaves, a young guy brushes against him in the doorway. Instinctively Reacher checks the pocket holding his cash and passport. There's no problem. Nothing is missing.

Second – a store to buy a coat. Nothing fancy. Something he can ditch when he heads to warmer climates. Large enough to fit a man the size of a bank vault. As he pulls out his cash, he finds something new in his pocket. A handwritten note. A desperate plea for help.

Third – wherever this bend in the road takes him. Impressed by the guy's technique and intrigued by the message, Reacher makes it his mission to find out more . . .

We all need Jack Reacher – a righteous avenger for our troubled times.

Listen to an exclusive interview between Lee Child and Jeff Harding at the end of this audiobook. For the first time, Lee Child and Jeff Harding talk about bringing Reacher to life in audio and celebrate the 30th Reacher adventure.

A good story, well read, nice twists. I am not sure if it is me but this one seems to rush through the plot without getting into any depth on the story or characters. I am a fan so will still wait impatiently for the next one.

Stripped back Reacher

I've read all the Reacher series 3 times over but unfortunately this one would be in the bottom three. The story is too lazy, convenient and Reacher seems tired for the first time.
To summarise - Reacher comes across some bad people, then teams up with (conveniently) victims who are ex-military, takes on the bad guys (who are ex-military. Its so lazy when it's a random event. Most other stories relating to the military are by design.
The story aside. What's up with Reacher? He seems tired, bored, with a oh ffs ok I'll help if I have to attitude. He says hes leaving town about 10 times but for the weakest of reasons, stays. There's no love interest of any kind, not even a "she had a figure to die for" type of comment. Just so the readers know he's still a hot blooded male full of the thrill and testosterone he needs to fight bad guys. Weirdly - it almost felt like it was Reachers second rate brother in this book.... sadly... like the writing.
I'll remain optimistic for the next one.

n.b. The conversation between Lee Child and Jeff Harding at the end is really enjoyable.

One of the weaker stories.

The plots of the recent books are good but things that make reacher are missing. he's been a bachelor for the last 3 books now, and little things like descriptions of him buying clothes and getting food are all missing but added to the story....otherwise a good listen.

Andrew Child is coming into his own.

I have read all the Reacher series.. loved them all .. this one I should have left on the shelf !
After waiting all year this book was a disappointment the spark has gone out for me, with a weak story line not a sign of a Lady connection for Jack, Has he turned celibate on us ?
Wake up Reacher or hang your boots up :(

Exit stage left.... Is a strategy !

Loved the plot especially when he did seem to make friends tho it was sad when he ‘walked off into the sunset’ Thank Goodness there are more to come and that Andrew is So Brilliant at carrying Jack onwards and upwards ❤️
