Someone's leaving her increasingly violent notes, and soon she doesn't know who she can trust. Can Layla solve the mystery of her past before it literally kills her?

Couldn't Stop Listening!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook to a friend, yes. Theodora Taylor is a great writer and I listened to this audiobook as if I hadn't read the book already. It was so hard for me to pause it and go about life. I really liked it and I know others will too.

What did you like best about this story?

The best thing I liked about this story was the constant feeling of suspense. There was always something that had you thinking in the back of your mind "what happened then".

Which character – as performed by Leyna Baltimore – was your favorite?

My favorite character, performed by Leyna Baltimore, was Layla. I really like how she embodied Layla's character. Layla is sweet, nice, and polite. And her voice fit Layla, in my opinion.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did have an extreme reaction to this book. I was angry at a certain character because there was no way I would have put up with the things he made Layla put up with. He was heartless.

Any additional comments?

In addition, I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I found that I didn't want to stop it. It was a great experience.

WOW this is an intriguing drama or who donit bwwm

I love the setting or PITTSBURGH PA & landmarks mentioned. This was well written and exciting. With some kinky & slight rough erotica sex play.. (not my cup of tea) The amnesia victim black healthcare worker had a relationship with one of rich twin brothers... What happen?? And who is stalking her?? This will keep you on the edge of your set.. THIS IS WORTH THE CREDIT/MONEY... I wonder if there is another book to this story????? Theodora Taylor... Perhaps rich ranch owner meets a OLDER curvy black female respiratory therapist or sleep therapist and fall in love or lust.. hint hint.. She can take his breath away then revive him... hee hee Great story!!

A quick hot romantic suspense!

--I was given a copy of this audiobook for an honest review.

This was a fun quick listen. It has a little bit of everything, passion, intrigue, suspense, family issues all rolled up in to one! The relationship between Layla and Nathan is sizzling from the very start. The fact that Layla is unable to remember Nathan, or his twin brother Andrew does lead you to believe that Nathan is up to no good for most of the book. Nathan is the kind of controlling man that you just want to fix, and I think Layla, while the damsel in distress handles him very well. It is nice to see a heroine that while needing a little rescue is not totally helpless. When Andrew comes back into the picture, I became a little concerned about where Nathan and Layla would end up(I knew where I wanted her to end up), and the twist of who was stalking her and wanting her to leave was quite surprising.

Leyna Baltimore's portrayal of the characters was spot on for me. I enjoyed the passion and emotion in her voices and could easily tell each character apart. A fun read!

Great Writing-Unexpected Ending-Fantastic Narratio

Layla received a head injury her freshman year of college. She recovered well except for she had amnesia for the entire year preceding the injury. Now she wants to know what she missed.

Her first clue is that her father owed a man named Nathan a lot of money. So she tracked him down to his office. When she gave the receptionist her name, she was stonewalled and told she would not get an opportunity to speak with him. Of course, she finds a way and they begin their troubled relationship.

Before this listener knew it, they were in bed together. It was all the usual stuff these books are made of. He's handsome strong and big. She is confused but cannot understand this magnetic pull he has on her… He demands she signed a contract in which she will stay with him for three months.

Layla begins to look for Nathan's brother (her second clue.) Especially as Nathan is not giving her any help in finding her lost year. For some reason that perplexes her, Nathan doesn't want her to get a hold of him.

They have [descriptive] sex, all the time, and it is always wonderful. This is one of the books that I referred to chocolate (or any other vice one may have.) It is full of empty calories, but taste so good you can't stop.

As Layla finally tracks down Andrew, there is a very important fact that the author purposely omitted until this meeting. This makes things more understandable but I was so little bit put off by it. From there, it seems like the drama, plot and writing would be more suitable for a young adult or teen audience (minus the sex).

While I was disappointed with the route that Theadora Taylor chose, it seems the lazy way out, in my opinion. However, I am always quick to give kudos to any author good or bad for having the bravery and wherewithal to write a book, become published and have a large enough audience to get it on audio. It is very expensive and I am sure that those books making the cut face tremendous and daunting tasks.

Leyna Baltimore's narration was very good. I appreciate the way that she was able to flow from one character to the next, male or female. Baltimore is a great narrator. This is the first book that I have listened to by Baltimore. She gives a solid performance and if I see her name on any books in the future, I won't hesitate to pick them up.

Notes: Mature themes & strong language. Using the movie rating system NC-17

Really good listen!

I absolutely loved this book! Just when I thought I had everything figured out the story changed the game completely. I hope that Nathan's brother gets a story of his own. I'd love to see him finally meet the woman of his dreams.

ok

I really liked the storyline and the narrator was good. I would definitely recommend this book. I didn't want it to be over. I can't wait to read or hear another book by this author and narrator. I wish this book was a movie. Great sexual storylines between the characters. I wish there was a part two to their story about them and their children and his brother and his wife. Their story was great also. I wish that was on audible. I wish this author didn't use God's name in vain. You can have a great book without using "gd".

Amnesia leads to love

This is the love journey of Layla and Nathan! Layla is a sweet girl attending college in Pennsylvania she meets her young man named Andrew and the two date for about a year. All is good on the surface but Andrew has an identical twin brother. Who seems to be the complete opposite of his twin in personality he's rude he's arrogant always abrupt with Layla. But Layla always takes it in stride. She always sees the bright side of everything. Little did she know he was falling in love with her. Everything became a mess just about a year after Andrew and Layla started dating. There was a misunderstanding and at the end of all of that Layla took a tragic fall down a marble staircase. As a result of this she broke several bones and she lost her memory. The very year she spent with Andrew. So the story is basically about her trying to recapture that night when she fell and The year that she lost because of the amnesia. If you like a little tension in your romance and some mystery this book is for you.

Great Story

What other book might you compare The Owner of His Heart to and why?

I don't compare books, each and every one of them is unique and deserves its own attention without comparisons.

Which scene was your favorite?

Quick, hot and sexy, the story goes on and although the flashbacks are a little confusing at some point the story keeps getting where it should and puts the characters in the right places.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I think I would keep the title of the book 'The Owner of His Heart' it fits perfectly!

Any additional comments?

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts opinions and ratings are my own. I was under no obligation to post a review or give positive feedback.
Thank you very much Theodora Taylor and of course Leyna Baltimore for this book.
