Summary

Sandra: Before that night, the over the top party and the cake incident, I spent Saturday nights with girlfriends, lamenting my life over margaritas.

I wasn't ready for Jacob Clark. He was sin and dark edges, wrapped in regret. He was my Kryptonite. His words oozed over me like warm honey. His dark eyes pricked my soul, and his touch.... Those fingers set my skin on fire.

Of course, he was too good to be true. And before I could wipe the icing off my greedy lips, I was walking away. So, why was he invading my dreams?

Jacob: She was the remedy to everything. Until my family, my past, provoked me.

I made one little scene, and Sandra walked away without a word, despite our mind-blowing connection. When I finally barged in on her life again, she told me she didn't want me. I told her in her pretty face she did. She more than wanted me.

Remember the ache? When I'm with her, it goes away.

If she wants a chase, I'll give her one. Who knows? When I catch her, I might never let go.

Contains mature themes.

Wow!!!! Listened straight through

Buy this book! This is one of the most beautiful interracial romances I’ve ever read. With other authors, shamefully, when it came to the actual intimate scenes I would find myself cringing at the fake-ness. Not the case here all I saw was two people who were made for each other falling in love. While the complexities of interracial dating did come up, it is not the focus and didn’t drag on beyond a chapter. It’s a great story dealing with family betrayal and forgiveness and most importantly LOVE.

SPOILERS
5 years ago Jake’s girlfriend Tracy and his older brother who was also his best friend were having a relationship behind his back, he catches them and the betrayal is so painful that he cuts his brother out of his life. His brother wants forgiveness but because of the betrayal coupled with the fact Tracy is now his sister in law and a constant reminder of the betrayal Jake is angry and unwilling to forgive .. worth the credit if you want raw emotions and to find out the rest

Toxic

This book almost barely got started because as soon as Jacob physically blocked Sandy in her house and didn't get tazed, I was hyper aware how incredibly toxic this dynamic was. It could have very easily gone into a kidnapping thriller with all the stalking, but because he's the hero working through his hangups it all worked out in the end. Sandy's sister trying to convince her it wasn't as bad as she thought was the most bizarre part. This is not my kind of troupe and although that dynamic doesn't continue, it can be a trigger for some.

Fantastic Romance

This book is written excellently, with a developed plot and characters that are developed well. The narration is one of the best I’ve heard in an BWWM audiobook. You will get to see family dynamics at play, steamy times, and even light humor.

Forgiveness is never easy to give...

5yrs ago Jake Clark was betrayed in the worst way and is still hurt and mad at his brother and SIL. He meets the beautiful Haitian-American nurse, Sandra Ettienne, at his mother’s birthday party and is enraptured. Unfortunately, the arrival of his brother and SIL sets off Jake and Sandra leaves. Lots of dumb moves and groveling later and Jake finally captures Sandra. But can Jake finally get his own HEA while he still harbors anger and indifference to his childhood idol? Let’s not forget his interracial relationship with Sandra. There’s so much going on in this book that you’re invested in the Clark family! Looking forward to the next book.

Dysfunction at it’s finest

Can anyone say family drama. I’m sure most families experience some level of dysfunction, but this family was over the top. Anyone in Sandra’s shoes would feel discomfort in this situation. That’s life. The narrators were good. I recommend this book. It had a few funny moments. On to the next book!

Excellent!

This is my first book from this author. It won't be my last. I hate that the authors other books aren't available on Audible. I'm so glad that Jake and DD got their HEA. What a sweet couple. Troy and that wife of his trying to play the victim 🙄. Buy the book. You won't be disappointed.

Good...But

I really enjoyed this book. Jake was perfect and Dee was annoying at times. My issue with this book is everyone with the exception of Lillian acting like Jake was overreacting. He was not and neither was his mother. Tracy and Troy were dead wrong. I could see if they were broken up.and maybe far in the future something happened but she was still in a relationship with his brother craziness. Now on to the narration absolutely love Troy Duran. Mari is good as well but her voice didn't match with Sandy. With all that being said I still enjoyed the book.

Awesome!!

Such a good and steamy book!! Yummy Jake! And I loved Sandy! I was right there with Jake’s anger at his brother and SIL- ugh! He was more forgiving than I would have been. The steamy scenes in this book had me fanning myself! Can’t wait to read more
