About this listen

Eleanor is the new girl in town, and she's never felt more alone. All mismatched clothes, mad red hair and chaotic home life, she couldn't stick out more if she tried. Then she takes the seat on the bus next to Park. Quiet, careful and - in Eleanor's eyes - impossibly cool, Park's worked out that flying under the radar is the best way to get by.

Slowly, steadily, through late-night conversations and an ever-growing stack of mix tapes, Eleanor and Park fall in love. They fall in love the way you do the first time, when you're 16, and you have nothing and everything to lose.

Set over the course of one school year in 1986, Eleanor & Park is funny, sad, shocking and true - an exquisite nostalgia trip for anyone who has never forgotten their first love.

Reminded me not just what it's like to be young and in love, but what it's like to be young and in love with a book (John Green, author of THE FAULT IN OUR STARS)

Lovely simple story. Really engaging. Just falls off a bit towards the end and I was left feeling a little disappointed.

Sweet story if a little jaded

This book was amazing. The narration was incredible. I cried at some parts and I laughed out loud at others! Beautifully captured and just draws you in! I couldn't stop listening!!

This book captures the feeling of love better than any other. I believe this to be its sole purpose.
To my mind, Eleanor was one of the best fleshed out characters, I have ever come across. You feel her love, her doubt, her desperation.
Everything about this book screams realism, whilst maintaining its fairytale romance. Things that can't be explained are left unexplained, because in real-life, everything doesn't happen for a reason. Not to Eleanor anyway.
This has no plot. Not really. It has character arcs, and I dare say that they stand among the best of all time.
Things in this book just seemed to break my heart. And make me smile. Often at the same time.

Whole-heartedly recommended - (for literally anyone)

As they fell in love, I fell in love with them

Loved both narrators, especially the one who played Eleanor. They really brought to life the vivid characters and relationships created by the author. Heart-warming but not sickly or unrealistic. Great story.

Excellent performances, characters and story
