Fantastic story and courtroom drama
This is a great listen on so many levels. I enjoyed the unfolding of the story of both women Lottie and Maria and did not predict how their stories would meet. I have to say listening to some of the details of the abuse Maria suffered was not for the faint hearted and did leave me haunted for a while after. This book is very well written with good dialogue and well-developed characters. I absolutely did not see the double twist at the end and thought it was extremely clever. The narrator did a really good job however her accent did occasionally slip when she was voicing Lottie. I look forward to this authors next book.

Stunner
Loved this book. it took domestic abuse to another dimension. The twist towards the end totally floored me. My only gripes are that I wish I knew what had happened to the characters in the end, but sometimes that's what makes a good book great, the not knowing. I did wonder how the female juror managed to throw herself into a full blown affair before the 2 week trial had even ended, but clearly she was lacking something in her relationship to make her seek affection elsewhere. The one thing this book does show is that you don't always have to be physical to be abusive and also DV doesn't just happen to the less well off or well known. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

A totally average read. Wasn’t great but wasn’t totally dreadful either, Drawn out with an over reliance on sex which the story really didn’t need. The storyline was okay but the believability was a bit stretched. I finished it but wouldn’t really recommend. Rather ‘Meh’ across the board I’m afraid.

Top notch courtroom drama.
What an excellent author and brilliant narrator. That’s all I ask from an audiobook. There was no lull, no overwritten chapters, and the story kept me enthralled until the very last page. There are some graphic and disturbing turns, domestic violence is a difficult listen but the characters are well crafted and the author will keep you guessing and gripped. This is going to be a best seller, and I predict a movie will follow.

Riveting!
This book starts off with a bang. A wife calls 911 to report that she has killed her husband and she's happy that he's dead, only to later learn that her husband survived the gruesome attack.
Courtroom drama follows, with a riveting storyline that focuses on an aggressive prosecutor, a compelling defense, and jury transgressions.
The last portion of the book was even stronger than the beginning of the book, resulting in a "WOW!" ending that made this book a winner. The middle of the book, however, lacked sizzle and would have benefited from some editorial cuts and that is why this book failed to earn a 5-star review from me. Specifically, I felt that much too much time was devoted to the juror Lottie and her extra-marital affair with another juror.
The book's narrator was superb.
THE VERDICT: Overall, I enjoyed this book and I look forward to listening to the author's future titles.
