About this listen

You don't have to live overwhelmed by stuff—you can get rid of clutter for good! Decluttering expert Dana White identifies the emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter and provides workable solutions to break through and make progress.

While the world seems to be in love with the idea of tiny houses and minimalism, many of us simply can't purge it all and start from nothing. Yet a home with too much stuff is difficult to maintain, so where do we begin? Add in paralyzing emotional attachments and constant life challenges, and it can feel almost impossible to make real decluttering progress.

In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, decluttering expert and author Dana White identifies the mindsets and emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter. In her signature humorous approach, she provides workable solutions to break through these struggles and get clutter out—for good!

Not only does Dana provide strategies, but she dives deep into how to implement them, no matter the reader's clutter level or emotional resistance to decluttering. She helps identify procrasticlutter—the stuff that will get done eventually so it doesn't seem urgent—as well as how to make progress when there's no time to declutter.

In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, Dana’s chapters cover:

  • Why You Need This Book (You Know Why)
  • Your Unique Home
  • Decluttering in the Midst of Real Life
  • Change Your Mind, Change Your Home
  • Breaking Through Your Decluttering Delusions
  • Working It Out Room by Room
  • Helping Others Declutter

As long as we're living and breathing, new clutter will appear. The good news is that by following Dana’s advice, decluttering will get easier, become more natural, and require significantly fewer hours, less emotional bandwidth, and little to no sweat to keep going.

Love this book! No nonsense, no frills, just decluttering in a non-emotional way. Perfect for me and I am seeing results for the first time in decades!

I’ve listened to her podcast, A Slob Comes Clean, for years and I love it! I’ve been lacking motivation and have been feeling overwhelmed when it comes to many things (a consequence of depression and cptsd). Listening to Dana makes me feel less alone, and because I relate so much to what she’s saying, it makes it easier for me to believe that I can do it too! I’ve been wanting to get her books for a long time and finally did. This book is definitely worth a listen (or ten), especially if you’re not a natural declutterer. Inspiring and helpful!

I just love this book!

As a second hand shop 'addict" this book has been a saviour!! I've picked up many decluttering books in my time but never has one resonated with me like this. or made as much sense!! proper eye opening moments through the book and I've genuinely been excited to discover the reasons behind WHY I've got the clutter in the first place. it's just brilliant and by the end I'd already gone and bought Dana's other book! Thank you so much xx

This book saved my sanity and listened to it about five times so far. Its relatable and easy to follow and gave me the vocab and ways to communicate with my family about how to clear up our hoard and the emotional fallout.

I'm an information hoarder and have been battling with my own hoard for years with varying success. (you can never have too many books, clothes and dvds right? 🤣😱 yes apparently you can! ) but couldn't get through to the other hoarder in my house about what the problem was and the systems we need to resolve it. I felt so alone and loosing hope that we'd ever start solving our hoard. This book was a godsend. progress is finally being made on our thirty year old hoard.

the container consept; the one-in-one-out rule- OMG! they should teach these at school!

Thank you so much to Dana K White! 🙏🎉💜🥂👏👏
