We never stop to question what's going on with us internally, so we keep mindlessly piling it all on: clothes with tags still on them, electronics we get just to impress people, and the precious slots in our agendas that we fill with things we don't actually want to do. Be honest. It's not organized chaos. Those are not collectibles. You're not "just really busy." You don't have to go. And no, you're never going to use that - whatever that is that's still in the original packaging that you've been holding on to since Y2K.

Thank you FlyLady !
This audiobook was the missing piece of the puzzle in helping me to understand the FlyLady system . I had been struggling to fully commit to it as I had several questions that hadn't been answered from trying to grasp it from the website articles and the newer book 'CHAOS cure' alone. I have found incredible help from a number of YouTube channels but something still hadn't fully clicked for me but now it has ! Now I can tie all the resources together and get started step by step. Thank you for making this classic book into an audiobook for someone like me who really needed the wisdom in the pages but probably never would have gotten round to reading it in paper form.

Fly lady is a life saver!
I purchased the hard copy years ago and have read and re-read it several times. So nice to have it in audio format to listen to in the car! ....I thought I was an organized person until I had kids! Being a working momma with little ones is no joke! The simple routines and baby steps in this book are life changing. She also always helps to lift up my mood. When I’m being hard on myself and feeling like I’m failing at life I jump to chapter 4 (running on empty) for a relisten. It always helps reset my mindset! Thanks for everything, fly lady!

Felt like a guide for Stepford Wives
This book has some good tips (such as: Start with yourself. Use stick it notes until you get the hang of new habits. Stop resenting your family. Take care of yourself and more.) but overall the book began to feel like a creepy Stepford Wives guide to me. Maybe this book would have been better narrated by the author herself (who I have heard before). The narrator did a professional job but the upbeat demeanor coupled with using phrases that didn't seem authentic to her began sound like she had been programmed.
PS Where are the husbands in all of this?
Dana K White has a similar point of view but it comes out more authentic.

A book for 50s housewives
If you do not consider yourself a 50s-style housewife, this book may not be for you. Also, if you are not a Christian, she does talk a lot about God and is definitely coming from a “woman is a subordinate helpmate to her husband” angle, and that may not be your jam.
She has what seems like reasonable routines and methods that would be easy to adopt that I intend to try. I had to stop listening around the 5.5 hour mark when she really laid into the audience about “whining” because they may work all day or have other obligations, are disabled, a single parent, etc., and struggle to keep up with the housework because not one other person in your household is willing to lift a finger to help. I live in a household with four adults and two teenagers, and apparently I’m supposed to “bless my family “ with a smile on my face and a song in my heart while they all leave their dirty dishes, stinky clothes, and wet towels for me to pick up and clean for them. And if nobody listens to me when I ask them to clean up after themselves, it’s my own doing because I’m such a whiner and they’re all sick of listening to me. If I would just make sure (it’s my responsibility, in fact) to attend to my own self care before cleaning, I would have a much better attitude with which to serve. Because, you know, there’s so much time to do that in between working, doctor and therapy appointments, karate lessons multiple times a week, making home-cooked meals, and cleaning up after everyone (except my husband, who is actually good about that). I personally believe it isn’t healthy NOT to have your children clean up after themselves. If you teach them that someone else is their housemaid, they will later become terrible roommates and life partners. Sadly, I had my kids pretty well trained until my husband’s kids moved in, and because they were taught they didn’t have to do anything for themselves, my kids became resentful they had to clean up, so they went on strike. In return, I gave up on the housework, which according to this author makes me an angry, bitter, loser and a terrible example for my children. Because according to her, if I would just be joyful while cleaning, my kids would all just magically see how wonderful cleaning is and start helping all on their own without being asked. Now I have to stop listening to the book because I am very angry.
