Summary

When private investigator Shane Stephens is hired by the mayor of Cincinnati to track down the hacker who has been threatening him, Shane is sure this is the opportunity to launch the Merleau Detection Agency into the big time. He even convinces Rowe Ward of Ward Security to loan him one of his best IT specialists, Quinn Lake.

Shane, a man who prefers casual intimacy, is surprised by his attraction to the moody computer geek, but when Quinn suggests they have fun for the month he’s on loan, Shane happily agrees. Both men are expecting nothing more than a good time.

But the investigation takes an unexpected turn, and they quickly discover they are facing more than a hacker out to ruin the mayor’s re-election chances. And as they spend more time together, they realize their relationship may be a lot more than just a good time.

With only weeks until the election, Shane and Quinn race to gather the proof they need while dodging bullets and possibly...falling in love.

as great as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Kenneth Obi is one of the top 5 narrators (so far) for me, I can listen without break and have no problems to follow. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Shocking twist

Shane and his partner are starting a detective agency when a case falls in Shane's lap that could make them stand out and get them more clients. But he needs the best Hacker he can find. He turns to Rowe at Ward Security and gets Quinn for the month, little did he know he was going to get more than his IT help.
When Shane keeps tossing innuendos at Quinn for a night of fun, Quinn propositions him with instead of a one night stand they fool around the month he is there. Shane takes him up on it. But the case takes on a dangerous turn putting both him and Quinn in danger.
I love nerd stories and really liked Quinn. He isn't just a cowardly type nerd either but not like the other bodyguards either. Shane was new and I liked him too, but really wondered how this would tie into the Ward Books, but it did.
Once again i have to say that this book is great on its own...but if you can get the audio I highly recommend it. Kenneth Obi lends so much life to the story. He has the best emotions that he gives the book with the love scenes and exciting scenes. You can hear the pants when they run and sighs etc. It gives you a good break when doing chores or long rides.

Hot action

Oh wow hot action. This series has it all, hot guys, lots of plot and bad guys to catch, and still time for some hot stuff with the hot guys.
Very enjoyable narrated.

Loved it!!

This is the second book in a spin-off of another series (Unbreakable Bonds) and it is so good. I just discovered this writing team and have fallen in love with the world they created. I like the suspense/MM romance combo.
And of course another great performance by Kennith Obi. He really is one of the best narrators our there.
I wish that there were audiobooks for the original 4 books that introduced this world. I love seeing characters from the Unbreakable Bonds series show up and I feel they deserve to be in audiobook format. I hope Ward Security ends up being such a success that whoever decides those things will do that.
Ahhh...I am super satisfied now and can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Awesome

Awesome add to the series. I cannot say enough about how much I love this new series, Drake and Elliott have done it again and you won't be disappointed. Kenneth Obi brings these two to life, voice flows well with the characters and story. I loved Quinn from the second we met him briefly before (am a sucker for a nerd in glasses) and knew his nerdy gamer self would become my favorite. Shane is just as playful and sexy as you would expect from a good guy. Their were twist and turns that had me guessing, filled with laughs, and old favorites popping up. Loved the action and suspenseful moments. These two guys connection to each other takes on a life of it's own, just wow! You can feel the chemistry and want to know more. I didn't want it to end at all, I need more Quinn. Can't wait for the next.

Meh

When I had to imagine MC’s sexing it up after one of them got shot and is on painkillers my eyes rolled so far back that they got stuck and I was forced to listen to the entire scene.

This was insta.
This was not very interesting.
This had flat characters.

Only the fact that I got this audiobook free, that I was able to speed up Kenneth Obi’s glacially slow voice, and that I had to read this for a GR challenge made me finish this book.

Some people love these authors. I’m not one of them. I like them just OK. But, hell, I’ve got the whole series. I’ll probably end up listening to them at some point.

My rec? Ambivalent, like a 3 on a 5 point Likert scale.

Brilliantly Narrated!

This is my favorite book in this series as I absolutely adore Shane and Quinn. They are both such amazing characters that really draw you in and I connected with them both and loved hearing them get their HEA.

Kenneth's ability to give life to these characters and make this story come alive is wonderful. He makes you feel like your there, a part of the story, and I felt like I was on their journey with them. Kenneth has such excellent flow and just pulls you in.

This was a fabulous audiobook and I highly recommend listening to this!
