Summary

When the dreams of wealth, power, and freedom converge, the nightmares begin.

After a dramatic life-changing event in the Dominican Republic, Luke, a keen amateur sailor, persuades his wife to abandon their life in England and set to sea to live their dream of freedom. During their voyage they are thrust into a world of crime, terrorism, and murder. In a web of deceit and intrigue, they are pursued by ruthless criminal organizations. In a plot which covers three continents, who will win and who will lose?

Good grief!

Is this a children’s story? The patronising tone of the narrator has turned what could have been fun into a facile, mispronounced unenjoyable experience.
At least, make sure readers can pronounce foreign towns with consistency and not use different, off the peg guesses as they progress.

I Liked It

A good story about a couple who enter early retirement and sail the world on their yacht. They get caught up in espionage and are wrongly accused, lose their boat and end up in a small town in the middle of a hate fuelled riot.

The production of this audiobook is well done. I enjoyed the use of sound effects, especially when the action was at sea. The sound of the sea added to the experience.
The narrator does characterise each person within the story and appears to be enjoying himself with the narrative. There was a couple of occasions where I ended up sitting in my van when I'd arrived at a client's house waiting to see what happened next in the story.
