Summary
Have you ever noticed that things aren't always what they seem? Life will always throw you a curved ball when you least expect it. We see only what we expect to see, and sometimes we could be in for a big surprise. And I sure got a surprise I can tell you, in spades. A surprise that lead to blackmail and murder. That's when I really got...Trouble in Mind.

Another case solved by Jack Daniels, PI
When Jack Daniels started following a rich man and his mistress, he did not anticipate that there would be any high risk involved. What was supposed to be a simple private investigation turned into a murder, and then another. Then again, was there ever anything simple when the case started because of a cheating husband?
Like the first two Jack Daniels stories I have listened to, Trouble in Mind did not disappoint me. John Holt, as usual, gave his readers/listeners an entertaining and exciting experience. And with the help of a good narration, I was able to get easily reacquainted with one of my favorite fictional private investigators.

Easy Listening
Another good read, The Jack Daniels books are short and sweet, plenty of action and no time wasting. The characters are well enough developed and believable. Peter Borys is a good reader and it's easy to follow who is speaking by the different voices he uses. Recommended! ***

No-one looking like her really walked.
Having recently listened to the audiobook of The Candy Man, John Holt's first Jack Daniels ( "like the whiskey") novella, this reader was hungry for more. This is book three - there does not appear to be a book 2. Like the first in the series, this is the slightly rambling recollection, told in first person conversation mode, of Daniels himself, talking about a recent case when he was hired, by a beautiful woman, of course, to get the dirty on her very wealthy, shipping magnate husband to use as evidence in a lucrative divorce. Except, as it turns out, he wasn't.
Short, but very densely packed with character and atmosphere, the narrator has an even more important role to play than in many books, this reader was initially disappointed that a different voice would this time become Jack Daniels as Joe Voegler in book one had been superb. But Peter Borys did it well, very well. The perfect voice for a noire P.I., his smooth talking voice hit just the right pace and intonation.
This book is one for anyone looking for a well written and performed, quick but satisfying story and for all who enjoy the shady world of the P.I. Recommended.

Trouble in Mind
This was good.It was too fast to really get into it. Peter Borys was good as narrator.
I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Really enjoyed it
I am really loving this series - so different to what I normally listen to, but so glad I have found this.
The narrator is like a warm hug and just so easy to listen to.
The story is really getting me involved and I want to know more , the humour is great - so ironic . In this episode Gerry has become more developed and am looking to hear more about him.
