Summary

Clutch - verb: to grasp and hold tightly; to seize; snatch.

Flighty. Stupid. That’s what my sisters think of me. I’m tired of being misunderstood. With a suitcase in hand and the ocean as my beacon, I’m charting my own path. Yet, barely a day on the road, I almost crash and burn.

Running into Silas Palmer, a sexy-as-sin rock star, changes my life. Silas makes me feel...exceptional. Aimless.

He’s always known his course. And even now, when he’s abandoning fame and fortune, he knows what he wants.

Me.

But life is never that simple.

So much more than your usual rockstar

The Storyline was different to the usual rock star books i usually read. I found the characters endearing and likeable. The main storyline is focused more on the toll it takes on the members of the band and how hard it is to find someone genuine And not just a gold digger. Excellent performance from both Callie and Jacob.

Enjoyed

The dual narration is a great listen to Jacob Morgan and Callie Dalton.

Silas and Pansy’s relationships full of drama and laughter with some good chemistry, with family tensions
I found the character descriptions , brilliantly written . The relationship is fast moving and I found myself wanting them to get their happy ever after. It had the perfect balance of romance and drama with some light-hearted comedic moments mixed in too.
I would definitely recommend this book

Beautifully Written and Performed Romance

This was my first book and audiobook by S.M. West. Narrated by Jacob Morgan and Callie Dalton, this is a rockstar romance unlike any I have read before. Besides the oddest meet cute, maybe ever, involving a car almost running a hitchhiker over, an assortment Murphy's Law events including an overnight in jail. This is a story of the Rock Star who wants out of the band, and the woman who fills all the holes missing in his soul. It is a beautifully written and performed romance, about family, friendship and love. The romance starts almost immediately but it is a slow burn to get to the sexy bits and it makes it so much more worth it. Silas is a little broken which is total catnip and Pansy has been told for the longest time she is flakey, but she is one of the most determined characters I have ever read. She wants to find her true path and is unwilling to settle for something that will make her less than content with her life.

Some parts of this story were a little slow, but I think it was more that I wanted to move on to see what was happening in other storylines because I was so invested. I very much enjoyed Rock Star Jacob Morgan and his growly demands in my ears with this one. I received a code for this audiobook and voluntarily give my honest review.

I loved it!

Silas and Pansy’s journey to happily ever after is sweet, sexy, and fraught with family tensions and hard decisions. I loved the slow burn storyline with just the right amount of angst. The characters are a fantastic mix and I’m very much looking forward to reading about the next band member. Clutch is the first book in the exciting Trojan series and you won’t want to miss it! Great narrators too!

Pansy & Silas

I love a book that hooks you from the first scene! As soon as Pansy "met" Silas, I couldn't stop listening. These two met under the most unusual of circumstances, and this chance meeting changed their lives. Silas is a rock star and he is tired of the limelight. Pansy is the person who cannot find her niche and is searching for it. Together, they find exactly what they are looking for. Silas is a great character. He is not your typical rock star, and he gives all the feel good vibes to the story. For me, Pansy is a joy. While she is unsettled, she is optimistic and I love that about her. The supporting cast is fantastic, each giving the story a little more angst and advice. It's a fun listen and the ending left me completely satisfied!

Callie Dalton and Jacob Morgan are wonderful cast as Pansy and Silas. Dalton is a seasoned narrator, and she is able to fill Pansy's personality with a uniqueness that fits her. Morgan plays the rock star with that confidence that he can give, yet he adds that edgy vulnerability so it's easy to love him. I love this team and look forward to more of them together.

Clutch

I really enjoyed this book. It was a very easy listen. Silas and Pansy found each other in part of their most chaotic and unsure time of life. In the process of finding each other, they also found their selves along the way. If you enjoy classic romance with a dash of Rockstar then I suggest you give this book a listen.

story is just luke-warm

The narration was good (Jacob & Callie) BUT the story was just ok. The writing was flat and predictable. The story was a rehash of ever other rock star romance I have ever read. I only purchased it because of the narrators but I should have waited a few days to see what other reviewers thought before I spent the credit.

So much heart!!!

The amount of heart in this rockstar romance really surprised me. SM West really delivers on the romance in Clutch. Pansy (really who does that to their child?) is on a mission on self-discovery and stumbles upon rockstar Silas. These two are the complete opposite but it doesn’t matter, their attraction is strong and the chemistry is lighting them on fire! I just love the way their friendship develops first into something special before anything romantic. These two won over my heart!

The narration on this was amazing! Jacob Morgan and Callie Dalton really added more heart and a realism to the story that I didn’t expect. Morgan is an amazing rockstar! Silas is a bit hot tempered; he’s always known what he wants and he goes after it with gusto. He wants Pansy now. Pansy isn’t as confident in herself. In fact, she’s very unsure of herself and is on a mission of discovery. Dalton gives her the perfect voice without making her sound like a pansy.

Sweet Romance

This is the first book in the Trojan Series. Silas and Pansy’s journey is interesting, sweet, sexy, and fun. I like their first meet. They complement each other. Their journey is filled with drama, angst, and ups and downs. The ending is beautiful. Callie Dalton and Jacob Morgan did a good job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to Reverb, Jared and Eva's story, the next book in the Series.

Frustrating at times but it all works out in the end

This is the beginning of a great new series. I enjoyed the story. The characters are a bit of a struggle at first. I thought that their anger/blow ups at each other would be too much. I wanted them to have some self respect and just forget the other party. But it was nice to see these two grow and find out what is actually behind their anger.

As for the band members. I predictably disliked Jared but the other two seemed cool. Even Jared was able to change his spots a bit and become a better guy. Pansy’s sisters were the ones you love to hate. They each have a haughty attitude and think lowly of Pansy. But again they change their spots in regard to her.

Overall I liked the book. The author took us on a journey that is a bit different and has all kinds of ups and downs. There is a lot of things that happen between these two MC as well as the larger circle they surround themselves with. Multiple times I wanted to shake Pansy and tell her to open her eyes. Because I couldn’t I was able to see her as a different type of female character. She doesn’t act or respond like a normal female would so I would have missed that. I look forward to seeing Jared’s tale and where it will take me.

I did listen to this on audio. Jacob Morgan did good on his parts. Callie Dalton is new to me and I thought she did good as well since she did the majority of the book.

Promising Premise but Just Okay

2.5 stars - Although the narration was good, this story was just okay for me. The story begins with a fun meet cute and the premise had a lot of promise, but I did not really connect with the story. I thought that Pansy was immature, and I did not like Silas’ anger issues and jealousy. Silas and Pansy also had a ton of family drama/baggage, which for me drew the focus away from their budding romance. I also did not enjoy all of the added drama near the end. I thought the narration by Jacob Morgan was great, though, and although this was my first listen by Callie Dalton, I thought her voice fit Pansy’s character well. Ultimately, this may be a case of a book just not being for me.

Silas and Pansy

As this book unfolded I really became more attached to these characters. Silas wants out of his world famous Rock band, but he has so much personal angst over his family.
Pansy wants to find her place in this world, she needs direction, a passion. She too has family angst that holds her back and keeps her from being al she wants to be.
Together they center each other. Am unlikely duo. There are also twists and turns along the way. Enjoyable listen.
The narration by Jacob Morgan is top notch as always.

This book grew on me

I wasn’t too sure about this book when I started it, in fact I was several chapters in before I really got hooked. But by the end I absolutely fell in love with Silas and Pansy.
