Grâce à de nombreuses et belles métaphores, l'auteur s'applique à toucher tous les publics, portant des idées parfois complexes aux yeux de chacun. L'auteur nous livre un roman baigné de soleil, de pureté et de douceur provençale.

Jean Chevrier prête sa voix à la lecture de Colline dans cet enregistrement de 1955. Son timbre, quoique parsemé d’accentuations parisiennes, est parfaitement adapté aux mots simples et purs de Jean Giono. C'est avec douceur et gaieté que Jean Chevrier nous offre sa Colline, emplie de cette beauté provençale que Giono magnifia tout au long de son œuvre.
