Summary

In a heartbeat, everything grinds to a halt. On Christmas Eve, the lights go out. Vehicles stop working. Communications break down. Reclusive former soldier Liam Coleman doesn't want to be anywhere near bustling downtown Chicago the day before Christmas. But his twin brother and his pregnant sister-in-law need him.

But mere minutes after leaving O'Hare, their car crashes, along with hundreds of other vehicles. When Liam's phone stops working, he begins to suspect something more sinister than a local power outage. But before he can react, the first plane falls from the sky.

When a super EMP takes down the nation's power grid, Liam knows it's time to bug out. He's prepared, but he never expected to be caught in the middle of Chicago as chaos erupts. With society collapsing before his very eyes, Liam will have to risk more than he ever thought possible to protect the ones he loves if it's not already too late.

Chaos Rising is a riveting post-apocalyptic EMP survival thriller set in the Edge of Collapse universe, a brand new series from best-selling author Kyla Stone. Perfect for fans of Jack Hunt, T.L. Payne, and Ryan Schow.

Loved it...I need more!

This is a great start to Kyla Stone’s new series. So easy to become immersed into the characters and the storyline. The pace and tension was just right and the narrator really brings the characters to life. I am really looking forward to listening to the next instalment. It cannot be recorded soon enough.

This was a great start to the series. I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy all of the books so I just started with the prequel and when it finished I bought book 1 right away. I needed to know what was going to happen with next. This book is pretty dark and very sad but it's a PA so I expected that. The narration was great, I enjoyed her narration. At first I thought it was odd to have a female narrator for a mostly male POV but she does a great job.

It could be better

This story is good but what irritated me is that the author could have made 3 books into one instead of separating them. Your are spending way to many credits trying to complete the series.

Good Informative Prequel for the Series

I was given this free review copy audio-book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of Chaos Rising - An Edge of Collapse Prequel by Kyla Stone and narrated by Stacey Glemboski. While not necessary for the series, Edge of Collapse, it provided insight and background information on one of the protagonists. It was helpful in understanding this character and his thought processes and actions/reactions. A great start to the series. And Stacey is the perfect narrator for this series. She makes the story come alive in my mind.

A Great Introduction

Kyla Stone once again thrusts her fans into a world of chaos, violence, hope, despair, love, and redemption. The characters are well defined and display complex, real life deliberations and choices. The internal views into each character's inner challenges and shortcomings are displayed superbly. Stone at her brilliant best! Stacey Glemboski voices each character with passion and grit. Her tone and pace matches the intent of the authors word for word and step for step. The resulting combination never disappoints! Welcome to the fight for survival.

Horrible

I could not even get through an hour of this book. The narrator was great but that does not redeem an awfully written book. Skip this one.

Should have been part of the first book!

Not sure why this is seperate from the actual book and I’m pretty irritated that someone would try to get a credit for a two hour story. The only reason I purchased it for the $4 and not waste a credit was so I wouldn’t miss any of the story. But my guess after listening to it is that it probably wouldn’t have mattered. I bet you anything the first book quickly rehashes the entire story at its beginning so I’m just perplexed as to what is going on! I had chosen to read the first book after stumbling across it and seeing that it had all five star reviews accept for one and it appeared that people absolutely loved it! Now I’m thinking it must have been family members or friends helping the author out because this two hour prequel was not that good. I’d say a bit juvenile in the writing but it did flow fairly well I guess if not a bit rushed actually. I’m going to go ahead with book one because it sounded extremely good AND I’ve already spent a credit on it and the second book as well but I’m a little doubtful at this point. My gut tells me that I’m going to be of the opinion that this entire series should be for one credit so as to actually give someone their money’s worth but I hope I’m wrong and end up pleasantly surprised.

I’m not a writer, never write reviews. But, in the 2 hour book I’m ready cry. I can’t wait to start the next one.

Beginning of an excellent series

This is the introduction to the Chaos series. I believe listening to this book is necessary before listening to the subsequent books. If you don't listen to the first book, I do not believe you will not understand the rest of the series. I love the protagonist, Liam. I am now listening to Book 1 and have purchased Book 2 so I won't have to wait at all to continue with the series. The story and characters are well written and the narrator is good.
