Summary

In the middle of the coldest winter on record, a super EMP destroys the power grid. No electricity. No cars or phones. Worst of all, no heat. The country is plunged into instant chaos.

But for 26-year-old Hannah Sheridan, it's the best day of her life. For the last five years, she's been held captive by a sadistic psychopath, until the EMP releases the lock of her prison. Hannah emerges from her underground cell into a hostile winter landscape with no way to call for help, no vehicle that will drive, armed with nothing but the clothes on her back and her own determination to survive.

Liam Coleman, cynical loner and former soldier, is headed nowhere, fast. He believed he was prepared for any disaster, until the EMP took everything he'd ever cared about in a matter of seconds. When he runs across a desperate woman who will die without his help, he's forced to make a choice.

Two hundred frozen, perilous miles stand between them and their destination in rural Michigan. But the lack of power, desperate people, and the treacherous elements aren't the only threats. Hannah's captor isn't about to let her go. He will hunt her to the ends of the earth and beyond, destroying anything and anyone who gets in his way.

Edge of Collapse is a gripping post-apocalyptic EMP thriller perfect for fans of Ryan Schow, Grace Hamilton, Harley Tate, Jack Hunt, and Boyd Craven.

Loved this.

Really really enjoyed these books. Realistic, gripping. Couldn’t wait to continue listening after every time I’d had to stop! I also liked this narrator. Very good.

Avoid

Same on every page, characters very predictable. Was longing for it to end! When it did I was even more disappointed.

I just love all the books.

I love the details of the environment, facial characteristics and how you are thrown into the shoes of character.
Every book is so well done, I will never tire of kyla’s books.

William R. Forstchen Meets K.L Slater

🧡 One cup EMP apocalypse, one cup psychological thriller, mix until smooth and you have a gripping tale of survival on multiple fronts. A psychopalypse? I’ll work on that… Anyway, aAs a fan of both genres, I was captivated by the idea of technological obliteration freeing a kidnap victim.

💚 Main character, Hannah is a fascinating depiction of a strong person broken down by years of abuse. I enjoyed watching her brief bouts of emergence from her trauma and the fact that she still has a long way to go, leaving room for future novels.

💛 The style of this is focused on the action elements, like fight scenes and pragmatic steps. The characters are more formulaic, such as the strong, stoic Liam versus the purely evil psychopath. I liked the predictability of this, much as you’d find in any classic action movie.

💜 There’s a pup! Ghost is a welcome member of the gang, but I spent the entire time worrying about him.

SOUNDBITE

🎧 This is solidly produced and well-performed. It’s thrilling and scary at times, but not a demanding listen. You could easily have this on in the background, pick it up and put it down and be right back on track. What’s more, Stacey Glemboski’s clear, smooth voice is an affable companion.

🎧 I’d have preferred the addition of a dedicated narrator for the male roles, but only from a signposting perspective. Stacey Glemboski is more than able to portray all the characters and vocally differentiate them.

Superb end of the world thriller

This was great. Original, well written and gripping whilst realistic at the same time. I always know if I’m going to like a dystopian thriller series by how quickly I like the characters and I loved Hannah within minutes. Great story cannot wait to listen to the next. I’m just so pleased there are writers out there like Kyla Stone with original ideas to keep us end of the world fans satisfied with fresh material. Thanks Kyla ☺️

Brilliant

I have read this series. I loved it so much that I wanted to listen to it too. This narrator really brings to life the characters and storyline. I was so engrossed that I was surprised when I reached the end. I will be listening to the rest of the series. Too good to pass.

entertaining

loved the way it started ,gripped me straight away. Hated the guy immediately. loved the dog,I could actually smell him! and of course the lovely male lead. im not good at writing reviews but if I like a book,I try to write one. Don't usually like female narrators, but I thought this was excellent. I've downloaded the next one as I really need to know what happens next

A totally unique and enthralling series!

I am completely hooked on this series. I went from the prequel to this first story and have the second book downloaded and ready to go! So many PA stories get bogged down with logistics instead of the human stories. This series is a perfect blend of immersing you in the reality of a post-EMP world while highlighting the main characters’ personal experiences.

A new take on a pls genre!!

I really liked the characters role in this story. it really adds the drama to the book. Hannah, Luke and the dog is called Ghost. The genres that I have seen listed for this book are Sci-Fi and Post-apocalyptic which both fit well though I would also add thriller and suspense. I love the thrill of the chase eminent, the narrator does it so well.
Once you start reading this book you won't want to put it down. I love the listening and the prepper tips that Hannah and Liam have to use and rely on to survive. Then there’s the different characters they meet along the way, those they attempt to avoid and those they need to win over for help. It takes a long time for Hannah to trust Liam and to reveal her own story of torture at the hands of Gavin Pike. Then there’s the abused dog that Gavin Pike used to protol his hunting cabin. Hannah calls him Ghost he seems to silently turn up when she need him. Liam has a hard time with both Hannah and Ghost over when it comes to trust. Hannah has a hard time seeing any man as one of the good guys.

This is a great Listen and I eagerly anticipated book two.
