Summary

A marriage of convenience—until her fiancé falls for her sister.

When Elisabeth’s husband dies, leaving her penniless and with child, she must reenter London society to find a suitor. But how can she hope to compete with a fresh batch of debutantes, especially her charming little sister?

Thus, when a young widower offers Elisabeth a marriage of convenience, she hastily accepts. Worry ignites, however, when her newly minted fiancé and her sister end up quarantined together. Meanwhile, Elisabeth falls for another gentleman, one with neither profession nor prospects. How can she untangle herself from this quagmire of confusion and follow her heart when it means putting her livelihood, reputation, and relationship with her sister at risk?

D isappointing

A decent plot let down by affected writing and narration. The author wrote this with a thesaurus in hand as the vocabulary is very superior and doesn't quite flow. She would have been better served to have had a book on the customs and practices of the period. A footman hanging about inside a lying in room while a woman is giving birth is just one glaring error. The narrator's overly enunciated style and odd pronunciations don't help.
