My name is Faron Brinkley I never knew what it meant growing up in the foster care system, but I knew I was there for a reason. I went through abuse from my birth parents. My parent's history was consistent with substance abuse, poverty, domestic violence, mental health and honestly I felt it was ancestry knowledge that they lacked. I went through many different homes, group homes, mental health facilities, residential facilities, and even juvenile detention centers. This was before I turned 18 years of age. I was raped, molested, abused, medicated, and left for dead in some occasions. I knew that I had a pass in this same system. I admit that I was a suitcase child, and I also knew that I realized that my story was not ordinary and it wasn't meant to remain silent. My goal as an author is to Change Foster Care by resiliency, breaking barriers, and overcoming adversity. I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA and for many years foster care has been put on the back burner, but I feel that the child welfare system needs a new type of childcare. I believe like Benjamin E Mays quoted "Every man and woman is born into the world to do something unique and something distinctive and if he or she does not do it, it will never be done."
