I have it all, or so it seems. A thriving medical practice, money in the bank, and a standing invitation to every social event in Virginia. It doesn't matter that my marriage is a train wreck and my friend circle is limited to my business partner and my brother. You don't need things like love and friends when you're at the top of your field. That's what I thought, until I met Paige.

Most of us have probably heard the story of how a German monk named Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the door of a church. These Ninety-five Theses were essentially ninety-five complaints lodged against the Catholic Church. In those days, the Catholic Church was the big guy on the block when it came to religion.

Following the execution of the king in 1649, the new Commonwealth and then Oliver Cromwell set out to drive forward a puritan reformation of manners. They wanted to reform the church and its services, enforce the Sabbath, suppress Christmas, and spread the gospel. They sought to impose a stern moral discipline to regulate and reform sexual behaviour, drinking practices, language, dress, and leisure activities ranging from music and plays to football.

In the 16th century, the church faced a doctrinal crisis. Today, the crisis is race. We all know that racial unity is important. But what’s the right way to approach it? How can Christians of different ethnicities pursue unity in an environment that is so highly charged and full of landmines on all sides?

Much of what we see expressed in the church today is built on more than just the New Testament. It's built, instead, mostly on the Old Testament, church culture, and Paganism. It is therefore imperative that we as God's people dare to stop and take a closer look at the church today and compare it to the first church we read about in the Bible. If we are to succeed in making disciples of all nations, then we must go back to the "template" we find in the Bible. Let the reformation begin!
