My mother was bipolar, mentally ill, a sociopath that not only got pregnant by my 15-year-old father but went on to abuse me in every way imaginable. This is my story. People have a hard time believing that women, especially mothers who are supposed to protect their children, can be molesters and pedophiles, but my mother was one. I am not only telling my story for my own recovery, exposing the sins of the mothers in our family, but to help others to see that if this happened to them, they are not alone, and they can recover and have healthy, reasonably happy lives.

Lori and Tom marry too young after they discover she is pregnant. Their families are riddled with alcoholism and dysfunction, but they plan on having a normal, healthy family. Sadly, they don't know how to. Tom's drinking escalates, and so does Lori's. She is too preoccupied with his drinking and lack of intimacy to think about her own problem with alcohol.

Carrie has been severely emotionally damaged by the divorce from her husband who cheated on her. She was unable to have children and felt completely devastated and inadequate. She is an artist, and that's helped her to survive. She manages and teaches at a newly remodeled art center, where she meets not only a new man, but many spirits. With the help of her psychic grandmother who raised her and her new friend, they are able to deal with the spirits from the past in the new art center, which used to be a funeral home.

Cammie and her husband Dan start to deal with recovery, if for no other reason than to be functional parents to their precious baby girl, Angel. Recovery only seems to make things worse for the young couple when Cammie starts having blackouts. Dan and Cammie’s father and stepmother are terrified to leave her alone with the baby. Michelle is doing her best to suck Cammie back into the dark world of drugs and Satanism. How will Cammie deal with her mother, who is involved in the dark world of Satanism? Will she be lured back into the horrors of addiction and evil?

Jake was impressed by Chris, who he met in night school. She was educated and appeared to be very independent and self-confident. After they married he was uncomfortable with the unusually close relationship that she had with her daddy. He loved her but every little thing about her that he didn’t like was magnified, from her plowshare legs to her snippy superiority. Divorce was beginning to look like a very tempting option. When Chris told him she was pregnant, he knew he needed to man up and be responsible for their baby.
