Sona Van (en realidad: Ter-Hovhannisian) es una famosa poeta y viajera Armenia. Nació en Ereván, Armenia. Su abuelo, un respetado clérigo armenio de la ciudad de Van en Anatolia oriental (de ahí el seudónimo literario del poeta) en el terrible 1915, se quedó en Estambul con una gran parte de su familia. Todos fueron testigos presenciales o incluso víctimas de las atrocidades de las jóvenes milicias turcas.
